Nissan Philippines is showing no signs of slowing down as it has confirmed that it will launch another new model. Fresh from its launch campaign for the Kicks, Nissan PH is filling another gap in its vehicle lineup. The upcoming new Nissan model in the country is no stranger to the local market.
The Japanese automaker is set to hold the Philippines debut of the Livina in September. The said vehicle will be Nissan’s challenger in the competitive seven-seater MPV segment. This means that the Nissan Livina will go up against the likes of the Toyota Avanza, Mitsubishi Xpander, Suzuki Ertiga, among others.
Nissan PH has yet to release further details for the upcoming Livina. Info on pricing, variants available, and full specs are still kept under wraps as of this writing. But a quick look at our ASEAN neighbor can give us a glimpse of what we can expect from the PH-spec Nissan Livina.
In Indonesia, the Nissan Livina is available in three variants with a starting price of Rp 257,400,000 (around Php 974,000 at current exchange rates and excluding tax) while the top-of-the-line trim retails at Rp 301,000,000 (around Php 1.14 million).
The Indonesian-spec Livina is equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that delivers 103 hp and 141 Nm of torque. If those numbers look familiar, then you’re not mistaken since the Livina has a similar power unit that’s found on the current Mitsubishi Xpander.
Transmission options for the Livina in Indonesia could either be a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. Again, these are the same transmission options for the PH-spec Xpander.
Of note, the Nissan Livina is built at Mitsubishi Motor’s plant in Bekasi, Indonesia due to the alliance formed by the two Japanese companies along with Renault. The PH-spec Xpander is also sourced from the said plant in Indonesia. With that, it makes total sense for Nissan PH to bring in the Livina, filling the gap in its model lineup as it has no dedicated challenger for the popular MPV segment.
Are you excited about the Livina’s launch in the Philippines? And oh, Nissan PH will officially introduce the Livina on September 6, 2022.
