The VL N-Sport comes to compete at a high level.

Without a doubt, there are a lot of significant changes made on the new 2022 Nissan Almera as compared to the outgoing model, two of which are the design and the new powertrain. The next-gen subcompact sedan gets a sleeker design accentuated by the brand’s V-Motion grille, and now uses a small turbocharged mill.

But there is one important update that would probably go unnoticed except for those who follow the model closely. This is the new top-of-the-line Almera VL N-Sport variant. The N-Sport is now officially included in the range, unlike the outgoing model’s N-Sport trim that was offered only as an option.

The previous Almera N-Sport only offered additional body kit from the front to the back to provide a sportier appearance. One can think of this along the lines of the Modulo option offered by Honda Cars Philippines to its lineup. Now, the new Almera VL N-Sport sits at the top of the range and offers variant-exclusive features.

Both the interior and exterior get a handful with the N-Sport

Exterior-wise, the Nissan Almera VL N-Sport is equipped with LED front foglamps, N-Sport bumper, N-Sport front grille dark chrome design, and side mirrors rendered in silver finish with power-folding and power-adjustable capability. It also offers 16-inch N-Sport design alloy wheels that distinguish it from the rest of the lower variants.

As for the interior, the new top-of-the-line variant welcomes passengers on black leather upholstery with contrast stitching for added flair. Meanwhile, the rear seats offer a 60:40 split-folding function for increased cargo space. Also, a center armrest is integrated into the center with cup holders.

A sportier and more high-tech trim

All Nissan Almera variants, excluding the base EL, come with Nissan Intelligent Mobility driver-assist features such as Intelligent Around View Monitor (AVM) with Moving Object Detection (MOD), Intelligent Forward Collision Warning (IFCW), and Intelligent Emergency Braking (IEB). However, only the VL N-Sport benefits from additional Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).

The 2022 Nissan Almera VL N-Sport comes with a price tag of Php 1,098,000. This is Php 165,000 more expensive than the outgoing top-spec variant, which is expected due to the added high-tech features and sportier styling of the newest model.
