It will be out in Indonesia first.

Despite all the adversities happening in the world today, Japanese automaker Toyota is taking the time to continuously step up its game as it refreshes much of its model lineup. One of these set to join the club is its entry-level MPV, the Toyota Avanza.

The current Toyota Avanza

A post from Indra Frathan on Instagram shows what fans can expect for the upcoming possible exterior details of the all-new Toyota Avanza. The post stated that there are currently three to five units of the new model that are in the pre-production stages, suggesting that it should arrive soon, by November 2021 to be more specific.

The new Toyota Avanza on the Instagram post comes with a sleeker design with its new aggressive character lines and smaller window finish. At the rear, it bears new taillights that look smaller yet sharper, discontinuing the large layout in a vertical orientation on the current model.

Looking at previous reports, the new Toyota Avanza will abolish its current rear-wheel-drive layout and use a front-wheel-drive configuration instead. Also, the new model is said to be designed on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA). With the said updates, the Japanese carmaker can benefit from lower production costs and improve the efficiency of its entry-level MPV.

No engine specs have been announced so far. However, the new model is speculated to be powered by a 1.5-liter 2NR-VE gasoline engine, replacing the 1.3-liter gasoline mill solely available in the Indonesian-spec standard Avanza. Moreover, the engine is expected to use either a 5-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The new Avanza is expected to heat up the MPV market

If the reports are true, then Toyota Avanza fans in Indonesia are in for a treat as their market will be getting the new Avanza and limited numbers of the recently-unveiled Avanza Veloz GR Limited. The latter features refinements from the brand’s Gazoo Racing (GR) that make it one sporty-looking MPV.

And once the all-new Toyota Avanza is out in Indonesia, the Philippines and other neighboring countries are expected to follow. This will be a significant contender in the market for those looking for an efficient 7-seater vehicle at an affordable price.
