Honda is adding a new model to its crossover lineup with the announcement of the Elevate.
Honda Elevate teaser
The Honda Elevate is a subcompact crossover that is slated to debut in the Indian market. No official specifications have been disclosed. But considering that it will reportedly be using the brand’s global subcompact platform, we get an idea as to what to expect from the new model.
Both the Honda City and HR-V are underpinned by the aforementioned platform. This means that the new Elevate could also be powered by the same 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine, which makes 119 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. It could be connected to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission).
In other markets such as Thailand, the City is available with the brand’s e:HEV hybrid powertrain setup. With that being said, Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) could offer the new subcompact crossover with a hybrid version for its flagship variant.

Reports suggest that the Elevate will be about 4,200mm to 4,300mm long. This makes it about 100mm shy of its larger crossover sibling, the HR-V, in terms of length. Based on the teaser photo, the vehicle comes with a boxy exterior with sharp headlamps and wraparound tail lights.
In terms of segment rivals, the new crossover is expected to go up against the likes of the Kia Seltos and Volkswagen T-Cross.
“The all-new Elevate represents Honda’s pursuit to introduce a perfect urban SUV appealing to the elevated taste for finer things in life. It symbolizes the aspiration to achieve success and wanting to keep elevating to the next level,” said HCIL in a press release.
The Honda Elevate is coming soon
The Honda Elevate is scheduled for a global premiere next month. Honda said that India will be the first market to launch the model, which suggests that it could be exported to other markets sometime in the future.
