Honda tuning specialist Mugen has previewed its latest bodykit for the Civic Type R FL5. The said kit will debut at the upcoming 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon.

At a glance, the new kit adds a bit of aggressiveness to the somewhat sedate-looking Civic Type R FL5. Note though that there are actually two versions of the kit that will be released: the Group A and Group B.
Group A is the subtler of the two as it only adds a pair of hefty side skirts, a larger rear wing, side intake trims, as well as a prominent front splitter. Group B meanwhile, takes it up a notch by utilizing all of those aforementioned parts from Group A and adding vents on the wheel arches, as well as a carbon-fiber hood with vents.
For now, pictures of the rear are yet to be shown by the Japanese tuning company. But, the kit is expected to receive an alternate rear diffuser which detracts from the relatively smooth rear end of the stock Civic Type R.

Mugen added that the Group A kit also uses a stainless steel exhaust system. The Group B kit, on the other hand, will be equipped with a fancier titanium exhaust system. For now, we don’t know if these keep the original triple-tip setup from the stock vehicle, but the company does have a penchant for dual-tip exhausts as seen on its previous Civic Type R FK8 kits.
Other aftermarket bits that will be present on both versions of the kit include an improved brake system, an upgraded suspension, and a set of 19-inch BBS wheels. The interiors will likewise see some additional touches including bucket seats, a Mugen steering wheel, and a Mugen shift knob, among others.

No pricing was indicated for these kits for now, but once released, we do hope that they’ll make their way to the local market–at least via a licensed distributor. There is, after all, a sizable following of the Civic Type R FL5 in the Philippines.
