The Mirage G4 finally gets its much-needed design update.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has officially launched the new Mirage G4 last weekend. MMPC is looking to have a significant presence in the local subcompact sedan segment with the 2022 Mirage G4 featuring a restyled front end.

At first glance, one can’t help but notice that Mitsubishi’s subcompact sedan arguably has a sharper, more dynamic, and more assertive fascia. The Mirage G4’s new look is brought upon by the integration of Mitsubishi’s signature Dynamic Shield design, which is a detail that can also be seen in other Mitsu cars like the Xpander, Strada, and Montero Sport.

The Dynamic Shield design is part of the new corporate identity of Mitsubishi, which explains why the Mirage G4 got a similar-looking front end in comparison to its larger siblings. The concept of corporate is not new in the automotive industry, and it can be seen across car brands.

Aside from the new front end, the 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 also has a black grille design, which adds character to the Mirage G4’s front end. The vehicle is also equipped with a new headlight design, which appears to be larger and sharper than the one fitted on the outgoing model.

The Mirage G4 still has a familiar-looking rear

The side profile and the rear of the Mirage G4 are still the same as compared to the old model. Well, this comes not as a surprise since the 2022 Mirage G4 is a facelifted model. As such, design changes are evidently seen on the vehicle’s front end. Although, the new Mirage G4 gets a new set of 15-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, you’ll be greeted with a familiar layout. Mitsubishi’s new subcompact sedan still has the same cabin design, which can accommodate up to five individuals. The top-spec Mirage G4 GLS CVT has a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, a push-to-start button, a tilt-adjustable steering column, and automatic air-conditioning.

Same interior layout

Despite having the same interior design, the new Mirage G4 gets an upgraded infotainment system. All variants come standard with a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition, the GLS variant is also equipped with a reverse camera, welcome home lights, and a remote trunk opener.

The new Mirage G4 is powered by the same 1.2-liter inline-3 gasoline engine that the outgoing version used. The said engine can deliver 76 hp and 100 Nm of torque.

2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4

In terms of pricing, the 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 has a starting price of Php 769,000 for the base GLX M/T variant. The mid-spec GLX CVT, on the other hand, is priced at Php 819,000 while the top-spec GLS CVT has a sticker price of Php 899,000.
