Hyundai Motor Philippines, Inc. (HMPH) opened the pre-booking period for the 2023 Stargazer last October, revealing only the starting price for the said seven-seater MPV. Now, HMPH announced the full variant pricing for its MPV.
The 2023 Hyundai Stargazer is available in three variants which are all equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that can put out 113 hp and 144 Nm of torque. All Stargazer variants come with an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), which is essentially the Korean automaker’s version of a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The starting price for the Hyundai Stargazer is Php 998,000, which is for the entry-level GL trim. The mid-variant, GLS, is priced at Php 1,128,000 while the top-spec GLS Premium retails at Php 1,218,000. It also comes with a 5-Year or 200,000-km (whichever comes first) warranty.
The Hyundai Stargazer’s pricing is within the ballpark figure of its segment rivals. The Php 998,000 starting price sits below the entry-level variants of the Mitsubishi Xpander (Php 1,050,000), and the Nissan Livina (Php 1,029,000). Of note, the entry-level Xpander and Livina come with a manual transmission while the Stargazer has CVT.
But the Toyota Avanza, and the Suzuki Ertiga come with a lower starting price compared to the Hyundai Stargazer. The entry-level Avanza is priced at Php 833,000 while the Ertiga is at Php 853,000. Again, both the base variant of the Avanza and Ertiga come with a manual transmission.
The mid-spec Hyundai Stargazer is priced higher than the Xpander and the Livina when it comes to pricing. As a recap, the mid-spec Stargazer GLS is priced at Php 1,128,000. In comparison, the Xpander GLX AT comes with a price tag of Php 1,110,000, which is a Php 18,000 difference.
It’s a bit tricky when you compare the mid-spec Stargazer to the Livina’s model lineup. That’s because the Nissan MPV has four variants with the mid-spec trims priced at Php 1,149,000 (VE AT) and Php 1,109,000 (EL AT).
It’s a three-way price battle between the Stargazer, Xpander, and the Livina when you look at each of the MPV’s top-spec pricing. The top-of-the-line Avanza (Php 1,059,000) and Ertiga (Php 1,003,000) are priced way lower.
The top-spec 2023 Hyundai Stargazer GLS Premium is priced the highest at Php 1,218,000. The top-of-the-line Xpander GLS is priced at Php 1,180,000 (less than Php 38,000) while the Livina VL AT is at Php 1,209,000 (less than Php 9,000).
Pricing is just one of the factors to consider when buying a vehicle. One should look into other things such as the feature package equipped on a specific vehicle. In this case, the price difference between the top-spec Stargazer, Xpander, and Livina can be considered marginal, which plays to the advantage of consumers. More choices, more options.
