The ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) has officially released the test results for the next-gen 2024 Honda CR-V. This is the 1.5-liter turbo all-wheel-drive version that’s specced for Thailand.
ASEAN NCAP - Honda CR-V (2023)
As a side note, Honda PH sources many of its models from the Land of Smiles. As such, there’s a good chance that the CR-V that’s coming to the Philippines this September 2023 might have the same safety cred as the one that was tested by the ASEAN NCAP.
To further break down the test results, the Honda model received a total of 5 stars. This is equivalent to a weighted score of 87.17 out of a hundred. For adult occupant protection (AOP) it received a weighted score of 39.31 out of 40, 17.97 out of 20 for child occupant protection (COP), 18.57 out of 20 for safety assist, and 11.32 out of 20 for the new motorcyclist safety category (MS).

Out of all the categories the CR-V performed the least in MS. Its strong point meanwhile is its ability to provide protection to its child occupants. This is seen in the vehicle’s perfect COP frontal crash test score of 16 out of 16, and its COP side crash test score of eight over eight. It likewise received a perfect AOP side protection crash test score of eight over eight, and a perfect emergency braking assist score of six over six.
Note that the Thai-spec model that ASEAN NCAP tested received that full version of the Honda Sensing safety suite. This includes autonomous emergency braking which can now detect pedestrians, bicycles, and other vulnerable road users.
It also gets a whopping eight airbags, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high beams, ISOFIX child seat anchors, anti-lock braking, stability control, etc.
