It is said to be around 40 kgs. heavier as well.

When Honda first announced that it will launch an all-new version of the Civic Type R, the automaker promised that the model will be its most powerful version yet. Honda hasn’t disclosed the official performance numbers in the meantime, but it seems that an interested buyer in Japan holds the answer.

In a report by Tire Meets Road, a customer posted a brochure of what appears to be of the all-new 2023 Honda Civic Type R. On the said paper, the new FL5 is capable of producing 326 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 420 Nm of torque from 2,600 to 4,000 rpm.

With those numbers in mind, the new Civic Type R appears to receive an extra 10 horsepower and 20 Nm of torque. It still uses the same 2.0-liter turbocharged VTEC engine but is tuned to become the nameplate’s most powerful version yet. A 6-speed manual transmission remains standard, debunking the additional 6-speed auto gearbox rumor.

Another specification the brochure revealed is that the new FL5 is 40.8 kg heavier as compared to the outgoing FK8. This refutes the previous reports that the all-new version will receive weight reduction treatments. Do note that the post may look legit, but it is unconfirmed so let’s wait for Honda’s official announcement

The power bump may not be significant but it is enough for the new Civic Type R to set a new lap record at the Suzuka Circuit in Japan. Finishing the 5.8-km track with a lap time of 2:23.120, the FL5 bested the previous record set by the 2021 Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition which did it with a 2:25.4 lap time.

No pricing information has been disclosed just yet but we can expect that the all-new 2023 Honda Civic Type R will start around 40,000 USD (or Php 2.25 million). As of this writing, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has no word yet as to whether the most powerful version will arrive in the local lineup.
