The teaser shows a set of unmistakable taillights.

GAC Philippines will be launching a new model on June 30, 2023. The company didn't say exactly which model it will introduce, but a teaser for the upcoming vehicle could provide hints about what it is.

The teaser for the GAC GS3

The said teaser photo shows the taillights of the said car, but otherwise, its other bits are shrouded in darkness. That’s a regular thing when it comes to teasers, but from what we can see, the quadrilateral shape of the glowing lights appears to bear the same look as the taillights of the GAC GS3 that was rolled out in China back in January 2023.

On that note, we are certain that this is indeed the next-gen subcompact crossover. So once it joins GAC’s local lineup, the upcoming crossover will then stand as the next-gen update for the currently available first-generation GS3. It will then face the likes of the Geely Coolray, Changan CS35 Plus, Toyota Raize, MG ZS, Kia Stonic, Hyundai Creta, etc. in the subcompact crossover market.

For now, no other details were given for the Philippine-spec GAC GS3. But if we reference the one in China, it might get a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine capable of making up to 175 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque. Power for this model is then sent to its front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

According to the brand, its engine output enables the GS3 to achieve a zero to 100 km/h of just 7.5 seconds.

Other features on the next-gen GS3 that we can expect on the Philippine model include a driver-centric cockpit, a flat-bottom steering wheel, an automatic climate control system, as well as a new 32-color ambient lighting system.

It also gets an assertive-looking exterior filled with angular design details, especially on the front and the side. The front in particular sports front bumper extensions and orange accents, at least for the Chinese-spec top-of-the-line R-Style variant.
