The Ford Territory became an instant hit when it arrived on our shores last August 2020. But Ford Philippines is moving on with the unveiling of the next-generation Territory.

Next-gen Ford Territory

Now in its second generation, the new Ford Territory comes with a stronger SUV styling, which is very apparent from the front to the back. Aside from this, let’s check out what is new in the compact crossover by comparing it to the predecessor that had a good three-year run locally.

Dimensions-wise, the new Territory is 50 mm longer and 32 mm taller, with the width reduced by one mm only. The ground clearance is higher by 10 mm at 190 mm, while the wheelbase is 10 mm longer at 2,726 mm.

Besides the growth spurt, the new Territory gets a larger set of wheels. The base Titanium now uses 18-inch alloy wheels, while the top-spec Titanium X has 19-inch alloys (from 18-inch). All these changes add to the more prominent SUV styling of the next-gen version.

Just like the older model, the new Territory also comes with LED headlights with an automatic on/off function, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), LED taillights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, power-adjustable side mirrors, and a panoramic moonroof.

2023 Ford Territory Old vs New: Interior

Inside, the cabin is more toned down yet more premium-looking. The seats now have a white contrast as compared to a predominantly black theme on the outgoing version. Then again, the faux wood accents in the old Territory were carried over to the new version.

While the center console still has the familiar layout, the buttons and dials have been redesigned to look tidier. In the new model, the seat material used is partial perforated leather for the Titanium and perforated leather for the Titanium X.

The Blue Oval brand added a dual-zone climate control function, which can improve comfort by allowing passengers to choose their preferred temperature separately. As standard, the driver benefits from a 10-way power adjust the seat, while the front passenger gets a 4-way manual adjust seat.

2023 Ford Territory Old vs New: Tech & Safety

Compared to the outgoing Territory which has split screens, the next-gen version now has a combined dual screen for the infotainment and instrument cluster. While both variants are equipped with a 12-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the base model uses a smaller 7-inch digital cluster, with the flagship getting a larger 12-inch digital gauge.

Like the previous model, the new one is still equipped with a wireless charger. This can be paired with wireless smartphone connectivity for a more clutter-free connection as you won’t need a cable.

The carried-over advanced driver assistance systems include Blind Spot Information System, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Enhanced Active Park Assist, and a 360-degree camera, among others. It is also equipped with an Adaptive Cruise Control with a Stop and Go, which allows the system to continue working even from a standstill.

2023 Ford Territory Old vs New: Engine & Drivetrain

The 2023 Ford Territory still uses a 1.5-liter EcoBoost (turbocharged gasoline) engine. But the power figures are increased to 158 horsepower and 248 Nm of torque. In comparison, the older Territory’s 1.5-liter mill could produce up to 141 horsepower and 225 Nm of torque.
