Its front end somewhat resembles the new Ranger.

A few days ago, we talked about the spy shots of the upcoming next-generation 2022 Ford Everest. It was spotted in Thailand, and looks-wise, its front fascia resembled the all-new Ford Ranger. Understandably, a lot of folks who are waiting for the Blue Oval’s updated midsize SUV were excited.

More recently however, Ford officially confirmed that the next-generation Everest is indeed coming. The marque also threw in some pictures confirming that the said spy shots are indeed the new Everest.

According to the Ford, the all-new Everest is currently undergoing its final testing phases under the brand’s testing program. Ford Australia exterior design department says that many of the new exterior features and visual design cues remain to be hidden until the model’s reveal in the first quarter of 2022.

Next-Gen Ford Everest Is Coming

As such, the camouflaged unit is still very much a pre-production prototype, and we can even go on to say that the final product still has a lot of surprises to offer. On top of that, we still don’t know what its interior will look like.

From the teaser video above though, we can see that it assumes a macho-looking but futuristic overall design. As mentioned, its grille and headlamps appear similar to the ones on the upcoming next-gen Ranger with some slight differences. Furthermore, it also gets a sunroof as well as roof rails.

The rear end then gets a pair of new LED taillight clusters seamlessly positioned on the ends of a dark-colored trim piece. The said piece then crosses the width of the new SUV.

The shape of the new taillights complements the brusque body-shape of the new Everest

For now, powertrain details about the upcoming 2022 Ford Everest have yet to be announced. There are rumors floating around that it will be getting the same engines as the new Ford Ranger. These include a new 2.0-liter single turbo and a 2.0-liter biturbo. There’s also a 3.0-liter V6 mill, though this six-cylinder engine isn’t likely to reach the Philippine market.

As with most pre-debut talk about specs, take this with a healthy grain of salt, and let’s just wait for the all-new 2022 Ford Everest’s official debut sometime in the first quarter (Q1) of 2022.
