According to DPWH Sectary Mark Villar, the other half of the work for the road project should be completed in the third quarter (Q3) of 2021 as the DPWH Unified Project Management (UPMO) Operations is fast-tracking the construction.
As a recap, the other completed half of the BGC-Ortigas Link Road Project, called the Sta. Monica-Lawton or Kalayaan Bridge, was opened to motorists last June 12. The new Kalayaan Bridge provides a faster route for those traversing Mandaluyong, Pasig, Taguig, and Makati cities.
DPWH is fast-tracking the construction
Undersecretary for UPMO Operations Emil K. Sadain said that the construction of piers on bored piles for the elevated structure along 8th Avenue is completed.
Sadain, together with UPMO Roads Management Cluster 1 Project Director Benjamin Bautista and Project Manager Ricarte Mañalac have inspected the ongoing works of the project to ensure that it will meet the target completion date.
The project should be completed in Q3 2021; in time for 'Ber' months
DPWH has been coordinating with service utility providers including Meralco to avoid inconveniences among those residing near the ongoing construction. The road project’s contractor, Persan Construction, will be undertaking necessary relocation activities that may affect the essential power supply to residents.
The BGC-Ortigas Center Link Road is a P5.72-billion project that involves the construction of 440-meter 4-lane Kalayaan Bridge, 565-meter viaduct structure traversing Lawton Avenue onwards the entrance of the Bonifacio Global City (BGC), and the rehabilitation and widening of 362-meter Brixton to Fairlane St.
Aims to ease traffic situations in Metro Manila
Upon completion, the entirety of the BGC-Ortigas Link Road Project will cut travel time between BGC and Ortigas Central Business to 12 minutes. This road project should be an integral part of driving the economy for the better as it lies within the fast-growing business districts in Metro Manila.
