The Thai-spec 2023 Isuzu D-Max is already out. It is also coming to the Australian market soon, and it gets a dash of upgrades for its exterior, on-board tech, as well as its advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
The 2023 Isuzu D-Max for the Thai market
On the top-spec V-Cross, which is the Thai market's equivalent of the LS-E, its exterior gets gray metallic finishes instead of chrome. Higher-spec models also get a new dark gray metallic fog lamp housing. The same goes for the trim on its LED rear taillights.
Just like the refreshed 2023 Isuzu mu-X, the new Thai-spec D-Max also gets the addition of a powered tailgate for easier cargo loading. Completing the look of the 2023 D-Max is a set of new wheels. For those trims using a 17-inch set, there are the “Aeroscrew” wheels. The trims that come with an 18-inch set in turn, now come with the more tough-looking Robust Radius wheels.
The new bits enhances the D-Max's macho look
Several improvements can be found on its interior as well. Chief among these is the new Cool Max fabric seats which are designed to absorb less heat. The front seats were also provided with new foam which is able to absorb vibrations.
On the infotainment side of things, the Thai-spec 2023 Isuzu D-Max still gets a 7-inch or a 9-inch touchscreen depending on the variant. These however, now feature wireless Apple CarPlay on top of Android Auto. Isuzu also made sure that these provide a clearer and sharper display than the previous version’s headunit.
Another significant update to the 2023 D-Max in Thailand is the addition of a 3D Imaging Stereo Camera. This was added to further aid the existing ADAS components which on the current Philippine-spec D-Max relies on the mono camera, radar points, and eight sensors.
To be more specific, it assists the adaptive cruise control, the autonomous emergency braking system, as well as a forward collision warning system.
The upcoming Australian-spec 2023 D-Max
The upcoming Australian-spec D-Max for 2023 goes even further as its blind-spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert can now automatically shut off when towing.
For better off-roading capability, Isuzu then added an electronic rear differential for a number of variants. The existing 1.9-liter and 3.0-liter engine options however, were carried over. Do note though that these diesel mills continue to provide excellent value for their fuel economy.
The latter was proved last year during the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) for the One Full Tank Challenge, where the D-Max’s 187 horsepower 3.0-liter 4JJ3-TCX managed to return 20.58 kilometers per liter.
