In partnership with the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP), the all-new BR-V 1.5 V CVT managed to earn a fuel efficiency rating of 24.7 km/l. The top-of-the-line 1.5 VX CVT Honda Sensing variant returned 23.48 km/l, while the 1.5 S CVT variant registered 22.61 km/l.

The said fuel efficiency figures were achieved with the following parameters:

  • No usage of cruise control
  • Driving with an average speed of 70 to 80 km/h
  • Low cool in thermostat setting, no. 1 for the blower setting

Delivering the impressive numbers is a standard 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC gasoline engine with 119 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. It can be paired with either a manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Only the BR-V variants with a CVT were tested by AAP.

The 2023 BR-V will be joining the Japanese automaker’s lineup consisting of other fuel-efficient cars such as the HR-V, which registered 29.66 km/l for the non-turbo engine variant. The Honda City and City Hatchback also proved to be worthy members of the fuel efficiency department by achieving 25.7 km/l and 25 km/l, respectively.

“The second-generation BR-V aims to strengthen Honda’s model lineup to the next level. This all-new 7-seater ticks the right boxes in a family vehicle, it’s got the tough character of an SUV, advanced technology and safety features, power, and efficiency to deliver great satisfaction for both the driver and its passengers,” said HCPI President Mr. Masahiko Nakamura.
