Suzuki is now the third best-selling car brand in the Philippines

The ever-reliable Suzuki Carry leads the way.

Last year, Suzuki Philippines, Inc. (SPH) finished 2020 on a strong note by becoming the fifth-best selling car brand, just behind Hyundai in the sales race. This reflected a promising future for the Japanese automaker’s economical and affordable offerings in the local market.

Now, SPH announced that it has strived to become the third best-selling car brand in the Philippines for the first half (H1) of 2021. It has surpassed American car brand Ford to clinch the third spot. As such, SPH is now part of the top three best-selling car brands alongside automotive giants Toyota and Mitsubishi.  

“Suzuki’s continued growth is a testament of our brand’s mission of expanding our reach for more people to experience what the Suzuki Way of Life! is all about,” said Suzuki Automobile Vice President and General Manager Keiichi Suzuki.

Top three best-selling Suzuki models in H1 2021

The top contributor for the said feat is the ever-reliable Suzuki Carry, accounting for 19.9 percent of sales. It is a light commercial vehicle (LCV) that is marketed to those looking for a robust business mover. Powering the Carry is a K158 1.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine that makes 96 hp and 135 Nm of torque.

Following the Suzuki Carry on the list is the Ertiga and Dzire, respectively. The 7-seater Ertiga MPV contributed 19.6 percent in SPH’s sales for the first half of 2021, while the Dzire subcompact sedan managed to post 18.4 percent of sales.

Suzuki is a class of its own

Overall, the top three Suzuki accounts for more than half of SPH’s total automobile sales, or 57.9 percent to be exact. Other Suzuki models in the Philippine lineup include the APV, Celerio, new Ciaz, Jimny, S-Presso, Swift, new Vitara AllGrip, and XL7.

“SPH shall continue in its pursuit of finding avenues to provide Filipinos with the best quality driving experience that only Suzuki can provide,” concluded Suzuki.

Suzuki Carry

The Suzuki Carry 2023 is the Japanese marque's entry to the commercial vehicle (CV) segment. It is available with various configurations and the Suzuki Carry 2023 starting price of Php 614,000 for the Cab and Chassis option. Powering this CV across the range is a 1.5-liter K15B gasoline engine capable of delivering 95 hp and 135 Nm of torque. This engine is connected to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard.

Dimensions-wise, the Carry Utility Van Body (UV) and the Lineman (LV) spans 4,344 mm in length, and 1,765 mm in width. The Utilivan is 2,030 mm in height, while the Lineman is 2,515mm in height with its ladder rack. Meanwhile, the Carry Truck is 4,195 mm long, 1,765 mm wide, and 1,910 mm high. And as for the Carry Cargo Van Body (CV), this configuration has a length of 4,237 mm, a width of 1,765 mm, and a height of 2,167 mm. In the Philippines, this CV is competing against the likes of the Mitsubishi L300, Isuzu Traviz, and Kia K2500.
