The US-spec Hyundai Kona 2018 will be officially making its global debut at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show on November 29. Previously, this crossover was introduced in the home country in June.

Even though the Korean carmaker has not revealed much about detailed specs of the Kona for American market, at least we have known that the anticipated crossover will come with two 4-cylinder gasoline engines working in conjunction with both front- and all-wheel drive systems.

In detail, the base model will pack a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated pushing out 147 hp and 179 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. As to the acceleration, this model can whir from 0-100km/h in 10 seconds before reaching 193 km/h.

A more powerful 1.6-liter turbo inline-4 engine which is capable of 175 hp and 264 Nm will motivate the higher-end variant. This mill will come aired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. In this trim, it takes only 7.7 seconds to rocket from the stand still to 100 km/h before topping out 209 km/h.

Born to be Hyundai’s first global B-segment crossover, the 2018 Kona completely rides on new B-segment architecture sharing with the Kia Stonic. On top of that, it will be fitted with top-notch interior space with a larger amount of headroom than any of its rivals. Not only that, safety will allegedly be further enhanced with High Beam Assist, Blind Spot Warning, Driver Attention Warning, Traffic Collision Warning, Lane Keep Assist, etc.

The Hyundai Kona 2023 is a subcompact crossover brought in by the Korean marque. It is available in the Philippines in one variant only which is priced at Php 1,188,000. Powering this vehicle is a 2.0-liter NU MPI Atkinson gasoline engine capable of generating 147 horsepower and 179 Nm of torque. Only a 6-speed automatic transmission is used to drive the power from the engine to the front wheels exclusively.

In terms of dimensions, the Kona has a length of 4,165 mm, a width of 1,800 mm, and a height of 1,550 mm. Additionally, it comes with a wheelbase and ground clearance rated at 2,600 mm and 170 mm, respectively. In the local market, this Korean subcompact crossover goes up against the likes of the Mazda CX-3, Kia Seltos, and Geely Coolray.
