Nissan 370Z 2020 revealed: A Special 50th Anniversary Edition of the Z car

The Nissan 370Z 2020 50th Anniversary Edition is Nissan's way to celebrate 50 years of performance Z-cars. Let's take a look!

At the New York International Auto Show, Nissan reveals the special 50th Anniversary Edition for Nissan 370z 2020. Their birthday gift to us. This is also very serendipitous as New York City is also where the original Datsun 240z debuted almost 50 years ago.

Despite its growing age, the Nissan 370z is still a very interesting platform which harkens back to the legendary Datsun 240z, with the 50th Anniversary Edition 370Z specifically to the #46 Brock Racing Enterprises car that had won many Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) races. This was a big deal as it cemented the Japanese made sports car as a contender in the global auto scene.

According to the latest car news, Nissan 370z 2020 50th Anniversary vehicle itself, it features the red colored livery of the #46 BRE car that won SCCA championships a long time ago. Other than that, silver with black accent version is also available.

Is the 2020 Nissan 370Z 50th Anniversary Edition a WIN or a WASTE?

1. Nissan 370z 2020: Exterior

Key BRE designs found on this special 370z are the twin parallel stripes on the side, the painted hood the colors of which flows continuously towards the car’s a pillar, along the sides of the roof and then towards the trunk.

Also, a thin line runs from the c pillar glass towards the tip of the headlights. The anniversary package also comes with 50th-anniversary badges on the front fender, rear fender, and four 19 inch alloy wheels with red accents made especially for the 50th anniversary 370z.

The 370z 50th Anniversary Edition is not changed and still has that sleek, low slung profile that the 370z and its past iterations had. Most notably with the Nissan 370Z are its upswept quarter-window design and its low roofline giving the car not only that distinctive sporty coupe look but also the body rigidity and stability that it needs for spirited driving.

Also of note is the car’s high-intensity discharge bi-functional xenon headlights which have a distinct boomerang shape. These lights have an automatic activation feature and LED daytime running lights in combination with the 370z’s front bumper results in an elegant face that still somewhat gives hints of aggression.

2. Nissan 370z 2020: Interior

Stepping inside the 370z 50th Anniversary Edition what one will definitely notice first is that the seats, the steering wheel and the dash that features numerous 50th Anniversary logos.

Apart from that, the steering wheel is wrapped in Alcantara and has that centering stripe that is common among race cars. As for the seats, all are leather and suede-covered, power adjustable and have lumbar support. Notable are also the stitching and dark chrome accents spread all throughout the interior of the car.

The 370z 50th Anniversary Edition’s interior also has what Nissan calls the information layer. This is the part of the interior that provides information like gauges which are attached to the steering column and the special 50th Anniversary logo on the tachometer.

Aside from these, the 50th-anniversary Z car also has a Bose sound system and active noise cancellation.

3. Nissan 370z 2020: Engine & Performance

For the 2020 Nissan 370Z 50th Anniversary Edition US spec, it comes with the VQ37VHR 3.7 liter DOHC V6 engine that can produce up to 332 HP at 7000 RPM and 27 lb-ft of torque at 5200 RPM.

The engine is mated to a close-ration 6-speed manual gearbox with an innate rev-matching system called SynchroRev Match which automatically controls engine speed during shifting. This eliminated the need for the “blipping” heel-toe technique which pro drivers use to rev-match.

As of now, details of this 370z’s pricing is still not revealed nor were any details about whether it will be released in the ASEAN market discussed. Regardless, the 370z 50th Anniversary Edition is a celebration of Nissan’s performance history and racing heritage. Two things that contribute to Nissan’s identity today.

Nissan 370Z

The Nissan 370Z is a two-door sports coupe. For the Philippine market, this model has three available variants. These include the 370Z Premium MT, the 370Z Premium AT, and the 370Z Nismo AT. 

Nissan 370Z 2023 Philippines price currently ranges from Php 2,779,000 to Php 3,888,000. 

For power, the Nissan 370Z uses a 3.7-liter V6 gasoline engine. On the Nismo version, it can produce up to 344 horsepower and 363Nm of torque. On the Premium trims, it can make up to 332 horsepower and 363 Nm. 

Size-wise, the 370Z Premium is 4,265mm long, 1,845mm wide, and 1,315mm in height. The Nismo variant is slightly longer at 4,330mm, and slightly wider at 1,870mm. 

Locally, the Nissan 370Z rivals the BMW 2 Series, the Chevrolet Camaro, the Dodge Challenger, Ford Mustang, among others.
