Many car lovers have pointed out that the Japanese auto manufacturer has pushed up the price of their hot-selling vehicle – the Toyota Fortuner significantly during the past few months. According to car news, that increased amount is approximately as much as P100,000. Rumor has it that the maker’s dealers have been setting out reasons from the proposed increase on fuel and new vehicle to even the Peso weakened anew against the dollar. There’s sure to be a perfectly innocent explanation for all this? Some customers have reached out to Toyota for an apparent explanation for the increased price. The obvious explanation, it seems, is some upgrades on the Fortuner.
Beginning with last month’s shipments, Toyota Fortuner models have seen a few small adjustments to the technology. Well, the Toyota Fortuner 2017 comes with the following tweaks:
|Ventilated disc brakes||All models|
|Reverse parking sensors||All models|
|Automatic climate control||G variants|
Obviously, these tweaks don’t come for free. These additions coincide with price increase for all models of the Fortuner.
|Model||Original price||New price|
|Fortuner 2.4 G DSL M/T||P 1,465,000||+ P 79,000|
|Fortuner 2.7 G GAS A/T||P 1,471,000||+ P 79,000|
|Fortuner 2.4 G DSL A/T||P 1,555,000||+ P 79,000|
|Fortuner 2.4 V DSL A/T||P 1,833,000||+ P 97,000|
|Fortuner 2.8 V DSL A/T||P 2,228,000||+ P 102,000|
So what do you think is actually causing the price hike?

Know more about Toyota Fortuner 2021
The Toyota Fortuner is one of the best-selling midsize SUVs in the Philippines. This midsize SUV has been driven on the country’s highways since the early 2000s. It became a household name because of its rugged platform, strong brand support, and tested durability. The second-generation Toyota Fortuner has topped the sales chart consistently, not only in the midsize SUV segment but also for the entire automotive industry in the country. And in 2020, Toyota Motor Philippines launched the new Fortuner facelifted which showcases a more aggressive SUV appeal. It still shares the same Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) platform as the Hilux and Innova. The new model is offering a wide array of variants to market to various car consumers. These variants include the base G, V, Q, and top-of-the-line LTD variant which comes with a more distinct styling. The sky's the limit for Toyota's entry to the local midsize SUV segment as it remains to be a top choice among Filipino car buyers when considering a reliable, rugged, and family 7-seater vehicle. As for pricing, the G variant with a 4x2 drivetrain and manual transmission starts at Php 1,633,000 and goes up to the new LTD variant with a 4x4 drivetrain and automatic transmission (excluding the White Pearl body paint option).
