Since the re-introduction of Chery in the Philippine market last 2019, the car brand has shown unceasing efforts to improve its business network. As a result, United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI), the official distributor of Chery vehicles in the country, managed to bag the 2021 Brand Breakthrough Award from Chery International
A strong impression for a promising future
The award was given during the Chery Overseas Distribution Awarding Ceremony, an annual event held by Chery Automobile Co. Ltd, headquartered in Wuhu, China. Only the official business units in the Philippines and Brazil received the prestigious award among global distributors.
“It is gratifying to see that all the hard work and efforts by the Chery Auto Philippines team and our fast-growing nationwide network of dealers are being recognized by our principals,” said UAAGI and Chery Auto Philippines President Rommel Sytin.
Filipinos can expect more from Chery Auto Philippines
Part of Chery Auto Philippines’ success is its fast-growing 18-strong dealer network in the country, with the Chery dealership in Santa Rosa, Laguna as the car brand’s latest addition. UAAGI shared that it plans to open three more dealerships this year in Lipa, Commonwealth, and Bacolor.
Chery Auto Philippines also collaborated with famous personalities to advance its business network in the local market. Some of which include Ang Probinsyano star Coco Martin and volleyball players Dindin Manabat and the Laure Sisters. These celebrities will help promote the Chinese car brand’s lineup of crossovers only.
The crossover only lineup is working for the brand
Starting with the entry-level Chery Tiggo 2 subcompact crossover to the most premium model in the Philippine lineup, the 7-seater Chery Tiggo 8 midsize crossover. Chery Auto Philippines is also offering the Tiggo 7 Pro which became a hit to Filipino car buyers as the first batch was already sold out 30 days after its introduction earlier this year.
“The Brand Breakthrough Award for the Philippines is an indication that Chery has been and will be striving harder. With this, we have gained more confidence that with our relentless efforts to build the brand, more and more Filipino consumers will get to know and appreciate the compelling value proposition of the Chery Tiggo models and put more of these in their garages,” concluded Sytin.

The Chery Tiggo 2 is a subcompact, five-seater crossover. In the local market, this model comes in two different variants: the Tiggo 2 1.5 MT and the Tiggo 2 1.5 AT. Chery Tiggo 2 Price Philippines starts at ₱695,000 for the entry-level 1.5 MT, while the top-of-the-line Chery Tiggo 2 1.5 AT is priced at ₱770,000.
Under the hood, the Philippine-spec Tiggo 2 uses a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that’s good for 103 horsepower and 135 Nm of torque. Both variants are front-wheel-drive. It can either come with a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic gearbox.
Size-wise, the Chery Tiggo 2 Philippines is 4,200mm long, 1,760mm wide, and 1,750mm in height. It also has a ground clearance of 186mm.
Locally, the Tiggo 2 competes against the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Kia Stonic, Hyundai Venue, Volkswagen T-Cross, Geely Coolray, MG ZS, among others.
