Long Wheelbase BMW 5-Series Li revealed at 2017 Shanghai Auto Show

BMW has recently introduced the latest version of the 5-Series in Shanghai.
The 5-Li is the long-wheelbase variant of the 5-Series, dubbed G38. The car is produced in China by the Brilliance-BMW joint venture. It is one of the most striking vehicles at the BMW stand in Shanghai this week.

The Li’s wheelbase is stretched by 13.3 centimeters and it is also wider and higher than the regular 5-Series models. We can see clearly these changes if taking a closer look at the rear doors; these do further the entry into the second row.

The cabin is equipped with the most up-to-date infotainment system, including rear entertainment and comfortable single seats. Besides, the removable tablet for rear passengers in the 7-Series is also available for this 5-Series long version.

BMW will offer three engine options for its 5-Series Li: a 2.0 turbo with 224hp (525 Li), a 2.0 turbo with 252hp (530 Li), and a new 3.0 turbo six with 340hp (540 Li). Alongside, later variants with electrified powertrain will also be introduced by the German carmaker.

The long-wheelbase 5-Series will compete with other locally made L cars such as the Audi A6L, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class L, and the Volvo S90 L when going on sale in China.
