Gone were the days where a pickup truck is considered a workhorse or a harabas vehicle. Pickup trucks have become versatile vehicles that can be used not only for business means but also for personal or family needs. A pickup truck is an ideal vehicle for most Filipinos as flooded areas are rampant in the Philippines. In addition, it comes with a relatively more affordable price tag. As a result, the local automotive market has a competitive pickup truck segment.

1. Ford F-150 (Php 2,698,000 – Php 2,998,000)

The Ford F-150 returned to the local market in 2020. The American carmaker said that the reason why the F-150 made a comeback is to provide a pickup truck that has more power and more refinement as compared to the reputable Ranger.

Let’s not also forget the massive size of the F-150. The pickup truck has a dimension that spans 5,890 mm in length, 2,029 mm in width, and 1,961 mm in height. That’s 536 mm longer, 169 mm wider, and 101 mm higher than the Raptor. The Ford F-150 uses a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 gasoline engine making 375 hp and 637 Nm of torque.

There could be various factors that contribute to the idea as to why the Ford Ranger is adored by many. However, the most common reason is its well-rounded muscular design, power, and affordable pricing that plays around the Php 1.2-million mark.

Powering the American pickup truck is a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces a maximum output of 158 hp and 385 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the top-spec Wildtrak version is equipped with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine available in two options – the bi-turbo 4x4 option that produces 210 hp and 500 Nm of torque and a single turbo 4x2 option that produces 178 hp and 420 Nm of torque.

4. Toyota Hilux (Php 843,000 - Php 1,830,000)

Go big or go home, this seems to be the idea when making the new Toyota Hilux facelift for the 2021 model. The new updates for the 2021 model include a more aggressive exterior appeal, better tech features, and a more powerful engine.

The Isuzu D-Max was first introduced in the local automotive market in 2002. Since then, the D-Max became one of the popular pickup trucks in the country. Currently. the Isuzu D-Max has one of the widest vehicular configurations with 11 variants available.

Isuzu Motors offers two engine options for the D-Max. The first engine option is a 1.9-liter RZ4E engine that produces 148 hp and 350 Nm of torque.
