Ford Ranger Thunder is the limited, sinister-looking truck we want

It’s dark, brooding, sinister, but at the same time so cool.

Historically speaking, edgy cars, particularly meaner looking special editions, can become potential best sellers. In the U.S. there’s the Buick GNX, a sporty, angular, black looking turbocharged version of the Buick Grand National.

Introducing the Limited-Edition Ford Ranger Thunder

Here in the Philippines, edgy looking limited edition pickup trucks like the Isuzu D-Max Boondock and the Nissan Navara Black Edition are quite common too.

Guess what, Ford is giving the dark and brooding treatment to one of its most popular pickup trucks and the company is calling it the Ford Ranger Thunder.

It's that kind of cool like Spawn, Darth Maul, or even The Incredibles because black and red. Get it?

Ford Ranger Thunder: It’s a Bi-Turbo

Slotted for a very limited 1,400 unit release, the Ford Ranger Thunder is also a no-nonsense truck when it comes to power. Under the hood, it is equipped with the 2.0-liter bi-turbo EcoBlue diesel that we’re all familiar with.

Like on the “normal” Ford Ranger Bi-turbo, Everest Bi-turbo, and the Ranger Raptor, the Ranger Thunder’s engine makes 210 horsepower and 500Nm of torque.

And yes, this exciting looking version of the Ford Ranger is also optimized for carrying heavy loads and off-roading as it does have a four-wheel-drive layout. And lastly, it also has the ten-speed automatic that the EcoBlue Bi-turbo is usually paired with.

Ford Ranger Thunder: The literal Darth Pickup Truck

What makes the Ranger Thunder stand apart from the already awesome Ranger Bi-Turbo is its exterior design. Ford gave it a Sea Grey paint job, red accents, and a tough-looking set of 18-inch black colored alloy wheels.

And yes, the front grille, skid plates, fog light surrounds, LED bezels, door handles, the load bay sports hoop, and the rear bumper are all given a black paint scheme.

Inside, the Ford Ranger Thunder comes with black leather seats with red-colored “Thunder” embroidery as well as red stitching on the seats, steering wheel, instrument panel, and on several buttons.

We want it bad

Remember that point about the 1,400 unit release? Well, all of those are intended for the U.K. with 30 for Ireland.

Do note though that most of the improvements for this intimidating-looking pickup truck are mostly cosmetic so giving other markets where the Ranger Bi-Turbo is already available a chance to get the Ranger Thunder or something similar would be a simpler affair. Right?

It also makes sense too since the Ford Ranger is already very popular here in the Philippines. So yes, we’re pretty sure that a lot of guys will want to buy a black colored, sinister-looking, but very cool truck like the Ranger Thunder.
