BMW Philippines brings the 2023 iX3 as its sophomore electric offering in the country, following the BMW iX released last year and with a retail price of a cool Php 4.59 million.
The 2023 BMW iX3 is the second electric model on our shores from the German automaker
“We are proud to say that BMW in the Philippines now has a product that flawlessly combines the familiarity of BMW’s Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) DNA and the excellent capability of a full electric motor,” said SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp. President Spencer Yu. “The iX3 is the perfect choice for customers who want to take their first step toward a truly sustainable driving experience.”
He expressed hope that the passage of Executive Order 12 reducing the import tariff for electric vehicles will help propel the market shift towards electrified vehicles in the name of sustainability.
Exterior
Offered solely in M Sport trim, the iX3 measures 4,734mm long, 1,891mm wide, and 1,668mm high with a wheelbase of 2,864mm. Since its debut in July 2020, the compact luxury SAV has undergone a cosmetic refresh, with a larger kidney grille now dominating the fascia. This is surrounded by adaptive LED headlamps that have been streamlined by 10mm, giving a sharper-looking appearance.

Redesigned air curtains at the outer edges of the front bumper surround the lower air intake that conceals a 10-stage active air flap control which cools down the electric powertrain and brakes. Blue accents throughout the fascia proclaim the iX3’s place among BMW’s electric offerings. A sculpted rear end aids in cutting down air resistance.

The Philippine release of the iX3 comes with the ‘Inspiring’ equipment line installed, bringing the M Aerodynamic Package, high-gloss shadow line, and 19-inch alloy wheels.
Interior
More blue accents can be found in the cabin, where sustainable materials figure prominently in line with BMW’s objective to reduce the carbon footprint of its i Series lineup. To this end, the interior features synthetic materials such as Sensatec perforated upholstery. Premium elements include fine wood trim and a pearl chrome trim finish, while a panoramic glass sunroof above readily provides ambient light in daytime drives.

The rear bay provides space for 510 liters of cargo (expandable to 1,560 liters) and is accessible via an automatic tailgate. Among the onboard amenities are power-adjustable driver’s seats with memory, three-zone automatic climate control, and acoustic glazing for the front windows.
Tech & Safety
The iX3 comes with BMW Live Cockpit Professional comprising a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch widescreen monitor that runs iDrive Operating System 7.0, the latter patched to a Harman Kardon speaker system. Apart from onboard navigation, the setup also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, and Remote Software Upgrades.

Among the driver-assist features coming standard on the iX3 are Cruise Control with braking, High Beam Assistant, Parking Assistant, Acoustic Protection for Pedestrians, Active Protection, and Park Distance Control.
Engine & Drivetrain
A lone electric motor is responsible for propelling the iX3 forward as part of the fifth-generation BMW eDrive system. BMW touts the motor’s efficiency of over 30 percent compared to existing EVs in its lineup, with a demonstrated efficiency of up to 93 percent as opposed to combustion models. Output is placed at 286 horsepower and peak torque of 400 Nm, allowing the iX3 to leap from zero to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds.
The iX3 has a claimed range of 460 kilometers on a single charge
Power is drawn from a 400-volt battery and 12-volt onboard power supply. The battery can charge at a rate of 11 kWh through either single- or triple-phase AC charging, while a DC fast-charging station bumps this up to 150 kWh. A single full charge returns up to 460 kilometers of range, and the iX3 is compatible with all Type 2 public charging stations.
Pricing
Carrying a retail price of Php 4,590,000, the 2023 BMW iX3 M Sport comes with a BMW i Wallbox for installation in the customer’s home. A 5-year BMW factory warranty is also included, apart from an 8-year warranty on the high-voltage battery and six years of BMW Service.
