Which pickup trucks in the Philippines have the best payload capacity?

Are you in need of a comfortable vehicle with a lot of payload capacity? Then check these out.

Pickup trucks, as the name implies, are vehicles that are meant to carry heavy loads via their cargo beds. Initially, back when these vehicles were still climbing in popularity in the 1920s, that’s all they did.

That fact, of course, was reinforced by the earliest production pickup truck ever: the Ford Model T. This classy gent of a truck was essentially a single cab riding on horse cart wheels, but guess what? It could carry 907 kg.

But what about the current pickup trucks available in the Philippines? Which has the best capacity? To answer that question, we’ve picked the 5 most popular truck models here in the country with the most cargo capacity.

#5. Nissan Navara lineup: 1,024-1,052 kg

While it can carry a bit less than the D-Max and the Hilux, the Nissan Navara has the distinction of one of the sportier trucks along with the Mitsubishi Strada and the Ford Ranger Raptor. That being said, it’s fast, and it offers a pretty cushy interior too.

#4. Ssangyong Musso: 1,050 kg

With SsangYong returning to the Philippines, the Korean marque brought in the Musso, which is based on the SsangYong Rexton SUV. While the exterior looks very SsangYong but doesn’t stand out too much, the interior, however, is notably luxurious.

Despite that, the Ssangyong Musso looks like it can also do grunt work with its 1,050 kg payload capacity.

#3. Isuzu D-Max: 1,085 kg

Coming in next is the Isuzu D-Max with 1,085 kg. It’s also a very popular truck here in the country but unlike the Hilux and the Navara, the D-Max is leaning a bit towards the utilitarian side especially when interior design is concerned.

Regardless, it is still a comfy vehicle whether you’re traveling on the road or off-road. Do note, however, that there are other variants of the D-Max that aren’t available here in the Philippines with significantly more payload capacity.

#2. Toyota Hilux Conquest AT: 1,115kg

The Toyota Hilux. It is one of the most popular pickup trucks here in the country and throughout the world for good reason. It is reliable, and has just the right balance of power, utility, and comfort.

With the Hilux, you'll also get that famed Toyota reliability too

Now the Hilux Conquest, which is the top of the line variant of the model, has a 1,115kg payload capacity which is more than what the Toyota Wigo city car weights. Impressive for the current price of a Toyota Hilux, huh?

#1. Ford Ranger Wildtrak Biturbo: 1,120kg

Currently, the Ford Ranger Wildtrak Biturbo is one of the more powerful trucks here in the Philippines with a payload capacity of 1,120kg.

Do note that other Ford Ranger can also carry 1,120kg but the Wildtrak also has a towing capacity of 3,500 kg compared to a “normal” Ranger’s 2,500kg.

While the Ford Ranger Raptor is indeed the most powerful pickup truck currently available to Pinoys, its suspension setup is geared more towards sporting applications than carrying stuff.

As such, it has a carrying capacity which is significantly lower than these trucks models listed here.
