For now, this improved SUV is available in the Land Of Smiles.

The Toyota Fortuner has received significant updates for its 2024 model. No, this isn’t a full-model change, but specific trims were bumped up in power, and it gets more onboard safety and convenience features as well.

2024 Toyota Fortuner GR-S

The updated Fortuner for 2024, which was launched in Thailand, gets a 20 horsepower and 50 Nm bump for the GR Sport trim’s 2.8-liter turbodiesel mill. This brings its total engine output to 224 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque.

The rest of the lineup meanwhile, retains the same engine output. For your reference, the 2.8-liter on the Philippine-spec Toyota Fortuner LTD and Q trims can make up to 201 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. The 2.4-liter entry-level V and G variants, in turn, make 147 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque.

Thai-spec Fortuner Legender

Besides upping its output, Toyota also gave the 2024 Fortuner wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This will pair well with the wireless smartphone charging pad that’s already present on the pre-update Fortuner LTD and Fortuner GR-S

Safety-wise, the Thai-spec Toyota SUV also gets tire pressure monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, and a 360-degree for all of its trims. Note that for the Philippine model, most of these features are only available to the GR-S, LTD, and Q variants.

The Legender (LTD) also promises to provide a more compliant ride as of the 2024 model. This is thanks to the addition of new shock absorbers. In the current local Fortuner variant lineup, only the top-spec GR-S comes with monotube shock absorbers.

Fortuner Leader

Last but not least, the Thai-spec Fortuner Leader (Q, V, and G trims in the Philippines) now sports the front fascia of the Legender (LTD) trim.

For now, Toyota Motor Philippines is yet to disclose when these updates will reach the local market. Being that we source our Fortuner units from Thailand though, we’re guessing that it’s only a matter of time.
