Guess what the most trending car is of 2019? Is it the ubiquitous Toyota Corolla? A Civic perhaps? Or maybe the Mustang or any other sports car for that matter.
Nope. The most trending car of the past year hasn’t even been announced or unveiled yet, and the is the 2021 Ford Bronco! That’s right, the small, body on frame workhorse of the late 70s and throughout the 80s, made infamous by the Juice himself during a slow-speed car chase in 1994.
The most Googled car of 2019
You’ve probably seen it recently on Netflix driven as the Stranger Things classic cars by one of the main protagonists of the show. It is a workhorse through and through.
Unlike the soft-roaders these days which are a mono-body construction and seem like lifted cars, the Ford Bronco has the reputation of Brute force and reliability. With the upcoming Ford Bronco, we now have what could possibly be the biggest Ford release since the fifth-generation Mustang. Here are 7 things we know so far about the big old Bronco!
12 Things You Must Know About The Ford Bronco
1. Ford Bronco 2020 exterior: Retro-future style like the Mustang
Much like when the fifth generation Mustang was unveiled in 2005. It goes against the grain of all the current releases that feature sleek and aerodynamic styling which to be honest makes me feel that they no longer look like traditional cars.
The upcoming Ford Bronco 2020, according to the leaks and concepts, will feature an old-school throwback design reminiscent of the old Ford Bronco for sale.
The cherry on top would be a traditional solid rear axle for more rugged off-roading capabilities and hauling capacity. We’re ramping up for a new era of retro styling and color me intrigued.
The upcoming Ford Bronco is going to be a throwback of sorts
Expounding on those Removable Roof and Door it has been observed in leaked camouflaged testing photos and schematics. This puts its line with its target market.
The variant configurations for the Jeep Wrangler have the same options available to them. The removable roof may be a hard-top but the jury is still out on the soft top option.
This is especially helpful for bringing the Ford Bronco off-roading, the performance effects aren’t as impactful as how bad-ass the Ford Bronco 2020 would look like with the top off.
In a surprise twist, the Bronco is setting its sights at the Jeep Wrangler
While some people proselytize and practically worship at the church of Independent Rear Suspension there are cars that still come best with a solid rear axle. Not the Ford Bronco 2020. Mostly body on frame, truck-based cars benefit from a solid rear axle giving it more towing capacity and load strength thanks to the stronger suspension set-up.
Strength is also essential when crawling through the rocks and mud during off-roading. Owners of some Ford Ranger Raptors can attest to this, the Ford Ranger Wildtrak can actually tow much more cargo compared to the top of the line sports model.
Independent rear suspension isn't the solution to everything
2. Ford Bronco 2020: Engine
Nothing has been confirmed yet but it is expected that underneath the hood you will a 2.3 liter inline-4 turbocharged engine, the same one found in the next Ford Focus RS that might come in 2020 and Mustang Ecoboost.
That makes a little over 300 hp and 420 Nm of torque. For more power babeh, a 2.7 liter turbocharged V6 can also be an option for the Ford Bronco 2020. That's the very same one in the Ford Edge ST, that makes 335 hp and 515 Nm of torque. No V8 is in sight but those power figures wouldn’t make you miss it at all.
The V8 will not be missed this time
3. Ford Bronco 2020: Unveil next month with 2 body variants available
Reports are leading up for a release this upcoming March. Ford is getting ready for an unveiling event exclusively for the Ford Bronco 2020. This means that the chances we will be seeing it this year or early 2021 in the United States are reaching a fever pitch.
It is set to do battle in the same segment as the Jeep Wrangler which has taken a stranglehold of the rugged, off-road capable SUV category. Wouldn’t it be amazing to see the Ford Bronco on our streets?

Ford is planning to have multiple variants released including one with a removable hardtop and doors. There are 2 main body types available a full-sized SUV and a smaller one which was initially thought to be called the Maverick.
New reports have somehow surfaced confirming that it will be called the Ford Bronco 2020 Sport. There is going to be a 4 door SUV and the classic 2 door that is an homage to the classic look of the Ford Bronco.
The Bronco Sport will be smaller and "sportier"
4. The possibility of a Ford Bronco Raptor is high
Being based on the T6 Ford Ranger platform, fans have been salivating at the idea possibility of a Raptor version. The Ford Bronco 2020 Concept is currently ripping it up at the Baja 1000 with the underpinnings of a potential Raptor variant.
If it were a Raptor that means it will switch out that live rear axle for independent Fox Shocks for speed across uneven surfaces, not exactly an offroad and hauling beast but a beast altogether. Can Ford just take my money now, please?
The Ford Bronco Concept is already tearing it up at Baja 1000
With the Philippines being another SUV crazy country, would Ford have the gall to release this beast in the country? Maybe with the 2-liter bi-turbo Duratorq engine from the Ford Ranger Raptor?
The Ford Bronco 2020 is another retro-inspired car that has been refreshed with modern performance. We cant wait to get our grubby little hands on it! Keep up with Philkotse.com for more news, reviews, and insights on the Ford Bronco!
