Geely debuted the Coolray in the Philippine automotive market last September 2019 with the tagline that says “bring the fun back in driving.” Instantly, the Coolray has caught our attention due to its striking exterior design and premium-looking interior layout.
The Coolray is offered in three variants: Comfort, Premium, and Sport. The starting price for the Coolray is Php 978,000 while the mid variant is priced at Php 1,088,000, and the top-of-the-line variant has a sticker price of Php 1,198,000.
Looking at the prices, you can see that each variant has a price difference of Php 110,000. On the other hand, if you compare the price of the entry-level Coolray to the top-of-the-line variant, the difference is Php 220,000.
The Geely Coolray is a vehicle that has a lot of style points
With the price difference in mind, Geely Philippines told us that its best-selling Coolray is not the Comfort variant, which is the base model. Yes, Filipino car buyers who purchased the Coolray did not opt for the entry-level variant.
Instead, Geely PH says the top-of-the-line Coolray Sport is the best-selling model among all the locally available variants.
The Geely Coolray is fitted with the same engine across all variants. It is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that delivers 177 hp and 255 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
The exterior and interior design are also relatively the same across all variants. Okay, so why do people go for the top-spec Coolray variant if all of the variants have the same engine and design? Here’s why.
Staring contest, anyone?
The top-spec Coolray is fitted with LED headlights and fog lights, which adds extra style points as compared to the halogen lights seen in the Comfort (entry-level model) and Premium (mid-level) variants.
Moreover, the Coolray Sport gets a set of sportier-looking 18-inch wheels as compared to the Comfort’s 17-inch.

Look at that sleek interior
Inside, the top-spec Coolray is equipped with leather seats compared to the fabric seats found in the Comfort variant. Features such as a smart keyless entry system and panoramic sunroof further set the Coolray Sport apart from the Comfort variant.
And oh, the top-spec variant is the only Geely Coolray 2020 that has an electronically adjustable driver seat. With the said features, the Coolray Sport has a more premium-looking interior as compared to the entry-level variant.
The Coolray can take you for some stargazing
The most notable difference of the top-spec Coolray variant is its tech features. For us, the Sport variant’s tech goodies are the clincher as to why Geely Coolray buyers in the Philippines prefer to buy the top-of-the-line variant.
The Coolray Sport is integrated with the brand’s G-Pilot system that includes automatic parking or active parking assist.
This tech feature enables the Geely Coolray Sport to park by itself. Yes, you got that right. The top-spec variant can park automatically by itself in a parallel or perpendicular position with just a push of a button.
The top-spec variant also comes with safety features such as blind-spot monitoring, and tire pressure monitoring.

It seems that the Geely Coolray looks good in any color
As such, it’s not difficult to understand why Filipino car buyers prefer to get the top-spec Coolray variant. It simply has more to offer as seen on its more stylish exterior that’s highlighted by LED headlights.
The Coolray Sport also comes with a more premium-looking interior brought upon by the leather seats and panoramic sunroof. Lastly, the top-spec variant is loaded with features that help you to have a safer drive.
And oh, the Coolray Sport’s automatic parking tech is a cool and an essential feature especially if you’re not yet confident in your own parking skills.
If you ask us, the Coolray Sport’s loaded features will actually make you forget that you paid for an additional Php 220,000.
