Apart from good looks, it packs more power too.

Launched in November 2019 locally, the Tiggo 8 is Chery’s flagship midsize crossover. It’s big, it can seat up to seven people, and it is definitely spacious. Chery however is expanding the said model’s variant lineup with the introduction of Tiggo 8 Plus. So what’s new? Well, this new variant packs a bit more punch in terms of luxury as compared to its regular sibling.

Apart from being bestowed with leather seats, the Tiggo 8 Plus also features several parts that make it stand further from the regular model. The dashboard looks different as it now features a two-piece display and gone are the dial controls for the automatic climate controls.

Moreover, the gear lever has been replaced by a fancier electro-mechanical shifter. According to reports, the soft-touch surfaces on this Chery model are also softer and the materials used are of a higher quality. All in all, it’s definitely more luxurious than the normal Tiggo 8.

Under the hood, the Tiggo 8 Plus uses a 1.6-liter inline-4 turbo. It’s larger than the Tiggo 8’s 1.5-liter mill, and it’s definitely more powerful with a maximum output of 194 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque.

When it comes to exterior styling, the Tiggo 8 Plus also looks very different. The taillights are new, and the entire design of the rear door is different. Upfront, the headlamps are noticeably slimmer making for a more aggressive look. On top of that, the grille now has this hexagonal pattern, and the wheels also look different.

And finally, Chery also added more chrome bits on the vehicle. Suffice to say, the different exterior features on Tiggo 8 Plus sets it apart from the rounder, more regular looking Chery Tiggo 8.

As for the Philippine market, there’s no word yet if we’ll get this exciting looking model. Keep reading here on Philkotse.com for more updates.
