7-seater Geely Haoyue launched: Specs, Features, Expected Rivals

How well do you think Geely’s new crossover will perform in the Philippine market?

Thanks to the Azkarra and the Coolray, Geely continues to decimate the idea of what a Chinese car usually is here in the country. Now, the Chinese automotive company unveiled its first three-row crossover called the 2021 Geely Haoyue.

The new 7-seater crossover is 4,835 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,780 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,185 mm and a ground clearance of 190 mm. With all these measurements, it is clear that the Haoyue is the largest crossover currently listed in Geely’s lineup.

Outside, the Haoyue is equipped with active matrix LED headlights with L-shaped daytime running lights that can automatically adjust the lighting depending on the steering angle – both horizontally and vertically.

In addition, it will debut an all-black brand logo that replaces Geely’s black and blue checkered design logo.

Geely undeniably stepped up its game design-wise

Under the hood, the Haoyue is powered by a 1.8L turbocharged inline-four engine capable of producing 186 hp and 300 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Inside, the 7-seater SUV will feature many symmetrical designs to feature a subtle and clean interior. Front and center are installed with a floating 12.3-inch infotainment cluster. Lastly, the cabin comes with a large panoramic sunroof.

Geely said that the 7-seater crossover has a space efficiency of 69%

The Geely Haoyue will compete in a tight 7-seater crossover market – going against the likes of the Mazda CX-9, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Ford Explorer. However, we can expect to see good results considering how well the Coolray and the Azkarra performed locally.

Sojitz G Auto Philippines, Geely’s official distributor in the Philippines, said that the Haoyue is seriously considered to be brought in the local market. If that comes to pass, we can expect the Haoyue to have a different name just like its crossover siblings Geely Coolray and Azkarra.
