Toyota has rolled out another set of teaser photos for the next-generation Land Cruiser Prado. It was also revealed that the upcoming next-gen SUV will be launched on August 2, 2023.
The all-new iteration gets a squared-off motif
Like the previous North American teasers, the Japanese photos still emphasize the boxier body of the upcoming SUV. Even other exterior bits such as the headlights, taillights, fog light housings, wheel fenders, windows, and side mirrors feature a squared-off finish.
Toyota decided to keep the SUV in black and white, matched by various colored elements of nature that suggest the different seasons. As such, we can expect the automaker to develop the SUV to adapt to different road conditions seamlessly.
Speaking of which, Toyota teased the interior, particularly the center console where the buttons for controlling 4x4 modes. These modes include high speed/high range, (H4F), high speed/high range, locked differential (H4L), and low-speed low range, locked differential (L4L). While the cabin layout has yet to be disclosed, we can also expect it to come with squared-off motifs as a design continuation from the exterior.
Even the interior has boxy elements
One of the most likely features is the use of the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA-F), the same platform used by the Toyota Land Cruiser. It is the same platform used by the next-gen Lexus GX, which was designed with a similar off-road appeal as the ones in the upcoming Land Cruiser Prado teasers.
The new round of teasers did not reveal any specifications. But there are a few engines expected to be used, including a 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 found in its Lexus sibling. If the automaker decides to integrate hybridization, a 2.4-liter inline-four turbocharged hybrid engine could be in line for the SUV.
The all-new Land Cruiser Prado is coming
The 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine with a mild-hybrid engine (MHEV) could also make its way into the Land Cruiser Prado. It is the same mill that will power the new 2024 Hilux slated to arrive next year. But again, these are just speculations so we still have to wait for the official specs.
