The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado was initially introduced in 1990. The current model is now on its fourth generation. It is the LC200's little brother, which is why it still has the popular characteristics of the Land Cruiser 200 but in a more compact and affordable package. This full-size SUV from the Japanese manufacturer combines refinement and style with off-road capabilities. The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado features more defined body lines compared to the LC200. The front end is not as intimidating, but it has a more youthful appeal thanks to its sleek headlamps and massive grille. The interior of the Toyota Land Cruiser features a plush cabin with wood accents, leather seats for seven people, and a steering wheel with multi-function control. The six speakers handle the sound of the entertainment system, and it also comes with Bluetooth connectivity. Passengers can also enjoy dual automatic climate control. Toyota Land Cruiser Prado comes with either a diesel or gasoline engine. The 3.0L diesel engine produces 163 hp and 410 Nm of torque paired to either a 5-speed automatic gearbox or 5-speed manual. The other option is the 4.0L gasoline engine that pumps out 275 hp and 381 Nm of torque partnered with sequential shift.

Launch

The global launch of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado happened in 2011. This full-size SUV underwent a facelift in 2017. The current Land Cruiser Prado is the fourth generation of its line. With every passing generation, Toyota provided us with a bigger and more premium Land Cruiser Prado than the outgoing one.

The latest model features a front end with horizontally oriented lights and a wide grille in the middle. It is currently available in the Philippines in three color options: Attitude Black Mica, Blackish Ageha Glass Flake, and White Pearl Crystal Shine. It is also offered in three different variants: Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 4.0 V6 Gas AT, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 3.0 Diesel MT, and Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 3.0 Diesel AT.

Conquer that unreachable point with the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado

Exterior

The front end of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado features LED projector headlamps with auto-leveling, fog lamps, daytime running lamps, and LED clearance lamp. These units also have a set of headlight cleaning jets that remove substances such as dirt from clouding the lights' lenses.

The side steps are illuminated to provide a safer and easier ingress and egress during the night. Its wide chrome grille brings the intimidating stance of the model's front end with vertical slats in the middle.

The vehicle's side profile looks blocky because of the plain-looking large glass areas and squared wheel arches. The high ground clearance, side steps, and 18-inch alloy wheels make the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado brutish.

Interior

The interior of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado features a premium-looking and built-to-last layout. All variants have leather-covered seats. Power seats for front occupants are also available in all variants. The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado can accommodate seven occupants in a 2-3-2 configuration.

The symmetrical center console is very different from other modern Toyota vehicles. The cabin also features an overload of trapezoidal theme for the touchscreen infotainment system, upper central AC vents, and automatic climate control buttons. The proper usage of faux wood, leather, and top-quality dual-tone plastic in the beige and black theme uplifts the ambiance of the Toyota Land Cruiser’s interior.

Technology & Safety Features

Some of the tech features available in Toyota Land Cruiser Prado include a display audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, and a six-speaker system delivers the audio. The model is also equipped with cruise control, automatic climate control system, a keyless system with push start, back-up monitor paired with eight parking sensors for the front and rear, and a multi-information display mounted in the gauge cluster that measures 4.2 inches.

In terms of safety, the cabin is equipped with a total of 7 airbags. It also has a hill-start assist, traction control, stability control, ABS with EBD and brake assist, and the variants with automatic tranny come with downhill assist control. Three-point seatbelts are available in all seven seats and further cabin protection by side-impact door beams.

Platform & Chassis

The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is under the J150 internal chassis code as designated by the Japanese manufacturer. The length of the SUV is 4,840 mm, with a height of 1,890 mm and a width of 1,885 mm. The wheelbase comes in at 2,790 mm, and the ground clearance is rated at 215 mm.

A double-wishbone independent suspension handles the SUV's suspension for the front setup and four-link type suspension at the rear. Both have the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension system. With this suspension, occupants will experience a soft and plush ride quality. The stopping power is handled by the ventilated disc brake setup at both the front and rear.

Engine & Drivetrain

The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is offered in three engine options – one gasoline motor and two diesel engines. The 3.0L 1KD-FTV diesel engine can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic gearbox. It can produce 160 horsepower and 410 Newton-meter of torque. The gasoline variant comes with a 4.0L 1GR-FE motor that can produce 271 horsepower and 381 Newton-meter of torque. It can only be paired with a 6-speed automatic. Each of the Toyota Land Cruiser variants comes with a full-time 4x4 system.
