What sits seats 5, rides high, has 4 wheels, looks like a lite version of the Suzuki Jimny and is only worth a hair over Php 500,000? Why it's the Suzuki S-Presso!

The wave of SUVs and Crossovers are on a roll. Last week we reported about the release of the 2020 Suzuki S-Presso in the Philippines and how it can potentially change the landscape of the car market.

With its subcompact dimensions and high ride height I can go as far as calling it the “poor man's Jimny”. The mini-crossover was set to replace the archaic Suzuki Alto which was first made available ever since I can remember.

Suzuki S-Presso 2020: Expecting for tsunami levels of hype in the market

Suzuki has recently announced pricing for the Suzuki S-Presso 2020 for the Philippine market and boy howdy, it won’t just make waves in the local car scene, you can expect tsunami levels of hype in the market.

Suzuki Philippines plans to bring a single variant of the entry-level crossover in the Philippines.

More than a lifted Celerio, the 2020 Suzuki S-Presso has real Crossover aspirations

If any of the photos are any indication it seems that the trim level they will release here is the one with a manual transmission, 165/70 r14 steel wheels with hubcaps ABS, dual airbags and a large touchscreen media center right in the center stack.

The speedometer and car information display are also set in the middle above the touch screen unit which may rub some people off the wrong way but we’ve seen this before in the Toyota Echo and Vios which means, you can get used to it.

We at Philkotse.com sure are excited to get our grubby little paws on it.

Am I the only one who thinks this has the potential to dominate sales figures?

It won’t be like you’ll be checking that speedometer anytime soon to see if you are above the limit anyway, the Suzuki S-Presso is powered by the same engine inside the Suzuki Celerio.

The trusty, old K10B is a 1 liter, 3-cylinder engine that makes 66 hp @ 5,500 RPM and 90 Nm of torque at 3,500 RPM. It promises a great fuel economy and ample power in the city.

Suzuki S-Presso 2020: How does Php 518,000 sound?

Speaking of the Celerio, would you care a guess for the price of the all-new 2020 Suzuki S-Presso in the Philippines? How does Php 518,000 sound?

It undercuts the Suzuki Celerio pricing but keeps in mind that there will only be a single variant available. This shouldn’t be a problem and many, myself included, don’t mind and are pumped to get a test drive.
