The company is investing in the necessary ecosystem for its EVs.

Now that the Electric Vehicle Industry Development ACT (EVIDA) has formally become law, the Philippines is expected to have a roadmap for electric mobility. But while the details have yet to be finalized, PGA Cars is already spearheading the local auto industry’s march towards EVs.

PGA Cars is positioning itself as a leading force where the country's EV roadmap is concerned

The local distributor of Porsche and Audi vehicles in the Philippines recently launched the FutureNow program, to help bring about the necessary ecosystem for supporting EV use in the country. Part of this is coming up with charging solutions for both residential and commercial needs, with public charging stations planned in partnership with mall owners, property developers, and fuel stations.

PGA Cars says that FutureNow is powered by an initial investment of over Php 300 million, which will be used to build facilities to address the unique requirements of EVs. Funds have also been earmarked for compatible equipment, tools, software, and specialized training of dedicated personnel.

Headlining the program’s lineup of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) are the Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron SUV, and Audi e-tron GT, offering zero-emissions mobility and technology to help PGA Cars stake its claim in the luxury car segment.

Porsche Taycan

Porsche's Taycan is the German automaker's first series production electric vehicle

The Porsche Taycan was introduced to the local market in 2020 and has experienced a consistent rise in demand since then, encouraging PGA Cars to bring the e-tron SUV, e-tron GT, and RS e-tron GT from Audi, all launched in February 2022. All models can be charged using either a household or industrial outlet.

Available alternating current (AC) charging units can be installed in residential areas so that owners can charge their EVs overnight, while a high-powered direct current (DC) charger – the first of its kind in the country – is also in use at the PGA Cars EDSA Greenhills showroom, where Porsche and Audi owners can top up their EVs free of charge.

More than selling vehicles, PGA Cars is also adopting carbon-neutral processes for its operations. One of these is a natural or man-made reservoir called a micro carbon sink, used to accumulate carbon emissions from the atmosphere. For the carbon sink program’s first phase, the company planted full-grown trees around its main showroom and service facilities, serving to improve aesthetics and help curb pollution.

Both Porsche and Audi, under the Volkswagen Group, already have plans underway to reinforce their respective commitments towards sustainable mobility worldwide. PGA Cars is giving the Philippines a peek at these brands’ EV initiatives, which will hopefully open up more opportunities for electrification in our market.

In the Philippines, its official local distributor PGA Cars Inc. launched the Porsche Taycan in June 2020.

Porsche Taycan Exterior

Designed by former Porsche exterior designer Mitja Borket, the body of the Porsche Taycan gracefully combines the short-nosed proportions of the company’s other classic models with the lengthened dimensions of their fresher front-engine releases. It is garnished with automatically extending door handles and a wide panoramic fixed glass roof that provides natural lighting.
Its front features a pair of lateral air intakes or air curtains that improve the vehicle’s graceful aerodynamic capabilities and lessen turbulence. Also affixed are their signature four-point LED headlights with a matrix beam.

Its rear boasts a boot lid styled as a short notchback with an eye-catching full-width band glass taillight and turn signal. Supporting its body is a set of sturdy 19-inch to 21-inch wheels depending on the variant.
