Mazda 6, Mazda MX-5 & Mazda CX-9 2019 revealed ahead of PIMS

All these 2019 Mazda models receive great updates from its carmaker.

Bermaz Auto Philippines - Mazda’s official distributor revealed its latest “Mazda Collection” including the Mazda 6 2019, Mazda CX-9 2019 and the Mazda MX-5 2019, ahead of the PIMS (Philippine International Motor Show). This much-awaited car event will take place from October 24th to 28th, at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.  

1. Mazda 6 2019

The Mazda 6 2019 is said to receive ‘the most significant update ever”. Walking around, the updated model is now adorned with revamped adaptive LED head lamps, a bigger and more aggressive bumper and a completely new front clip. The rear gets bigger tailpipes and fresh LED taillights, plus new 19’’ alloy wheels.

Stepping inside, the interior looks almost new. The instrument cluster now comes with a 7’’ multi-function LCD screen, along with a one-inch-added MZD Connect. Besides, the cabin also gets upgraded materials with Nappa leather seats, satin chrome and suede accents and more luxurious features including a 360-degree view monitor and ventilated front seats.

The rear gets bigger tailpipes and fresh LED taillights, plus new 19’’ alloy wheels

Under the hood, the Mazda 6 2019 is powered by 2 updated mills - a tweaked 2.2L Skyactiv-D and a normally-aspirated 2.5L Skyactiv-G units. The former comes with better 2-stage turbocharger with rapid multi-stage combustion and variable geometry turbo. It can produce 190hp and 450 Nm of torque.

Meanwhile, the latter is equipped with boosted fuel injection and a fresh piston shape, cranking 190 hp and 252 Nm of torque. It fuel economy is up 20% thanks to a newly-armed cylinder deactivation tech.

2. Mazda MX-5 2019

The Mazda MX-5 2019 receives a great update in its power with a 2.0L Skyactiv-G mill which can dole out 184 hp and 205 Nm of torque.

Besides, the MX-5 now boasts enhanced exhaust sound and NVH and a telescopic/tilt steering wheel. Automatic versions also comes standard with a reverse camera while an all-new “RF Club Edition” comes with Recaro sport seats and BBS alloy wheels as standard equipment.

3. Mazda CX-9 2019

The Japanese carmaker also doesn’t forget to pamper its flagship SUV with great changes. The top-spec version of the Mazda CX-9 2019 comes armed with AWD Signature - so-called CX-9 AWD Signature. The updated variant receives some new features consisting of a 360-degree view camera, Nappa leather interior and ventilated front seats. Mazda 6

The Mazda6 Philippines is the Japanese marque's entry into the midsize sedan market. It is available in two variants, which are both priced at Php 2,250,000. Under the hood, the sedan has two engine options, namely the 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G (gasoline) turbo and 2.2-liter SkyActiv-D (diesel) engines. With the gas power unit, the vehicle makes 228 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the diesel mill generates 187 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. As standard, the engines can only be paired with a 6-speed SkyActiv-Drive (automatic) transmission.

Dimensions-wise, the Mazda6 has a length of 4,870 mm, a width of 1,840 mm, and a height of 1,450 mm. Moreover, it comes with a wheelbase of 2,830 mm. In the Philippines, this Japanese midsize sedan goes up against the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.
