Maxus PH is set to release new G50 MPV this year, and it looks good

Can it squarely match the reigning king of MPVs, the Toyota Innova?

Maxus Philippines, the Ayala-owned importer and distributor of the Chinese commercial vehicle in the country, will be bringing the G50 compact MPV in the local market. The G50 further expands Maxus PH’s lineup of light commercial vehicles, which includes the T60 pickup truck, 13-seater V80, and its flagship model, the G10.

Maxus PH hasn’t released any official specs for the new G50. However, photos of the 8-seater G50 have been revealed and it looks stunning.

The G50, with its massive front grille and aggressive character lines, appears to be ready to take on its rivals in the MPV segment, which includes the Toyota Innova. The Maxus G50 possesses a boxy-type body and it measures 4,825 mm long, 1,825 mm wide, and 1,778 mm tall.

As for the international G50 specs, this MPV comes with a 1.3-liter gasoline engine that produces 163 hp at 5,200 rpm and 230 Nm of torque at 1,800-4,400 rpm. Another engine option is a 1.5-liter turbo engine that produces 169 hp and 250 Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DCT.

Maxus PH specifically said that the G50 compact MPV is targeted to be sold to starting families and young professionals. In addition, the Maxus G50 compact MPV will come with a purple color option called the Roland Purple, which will surely make this vehicle stand out on Philippine roads.

Expect the G50 compact MPV to hit the local market by the third quarter of this year. In case you’re wondering, the Maxus G50 will go up against the likes of the Toyota Innova, Honda Mobilio, and Suzuki Ertiga. As of now, Maxus PH has yet to release the sticker price of the G50 MPV.
