As for Human Resource Director Martin Lock, he realized that a vehicle from the Kia brand should be on his list after visiting Korea with his family.
“My family and I went to Korea where we were fetched by a Kia Carnival. This made me realize that the brand Kia has come a long way in terms of performance and style. Hence, my interest in the brand and the cars that they offer was piqued,” said Kia Sorento owner Martin Lock.

After the family trip to Korea, Lock told Kia Philippines that he went online to look for the best-rated 7-seater vehicles and watched countless reviews of possible options. In the end, he decided to get a Kia Sorento thanks to its style, functionality, and safety features.
Lock further described the Sorento as a vehicle that has been his great companion for when it comes to work errands. Also, the vehicle provided a comfortable and convenient ride for him and his family which is essential due to the quarantine restrictions in the country.
“This car has been a significant companion for our family especially in this pandemic. Since we cannot go out with the kids outdoors, our family bonding became long drives with the kids just to sightsee or buy food in drive-thrus. The comfort it has provided me and my family encourages me to procure another Kia vehicle,” shared Lock.
A crossover that suits his mobility needs
The Kia Sorento is a 7-seater midsize crossover that has been around the Korean automaker’s lineup since 2002. Under the hood, the vehicle is powered by a 2.2-liter CRDi diesel engine that is capable of generating 197 hp and 441 Nm of torque.
It received numerous awards for its outstanding design and reliability. These include the 2017 JD Power Initial Quality Study (IQS) for topping its segment in terms of reliability, the Red Dot Design Award, and the iF Design Award.

The Kia Sorento 2023 is the midsize crossover entry of the Korean automaker. Currently, Kia Philippines is offering the fourth-generation version of the nameplate which was introduced in 2020. It is available in two variants with a price that ranges from Php 2,448,000 for the base EX to Php 2,648,000 for the flagship SX. Under the hood, this vehicle comes standard with a 2.2-liter Smartstream inline-4 diesel engine that is capable of making 199 horsepower and 441 Nm of torque. Only an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) is used to send power to the front wheels.
Dimensions-wise, the Sorento has a length of 4,810 mm, a width of 1,900 mm, and a height of 1,700 mm. Additionally, it has a wheelbase and ground clearance rated at 2,815 mm and 176 mm, respectively. Locally, this Korean midsize crossover competes against the likes of the Ford Explorer, Subaru Evoltis, and Mazda CX-9.
