Hyundai Motor Company announced that the Ioniq 5 N has entered its final testing at the famed Nurburgring Nordschleife in Germany.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 N
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is the all-electric compact crossover’s more performance-oriented version, ensuring it meets the performance division’s three pillars, namely Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability, and Everyday Sportscar.
Following the extreme winter testing earlier this year, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N just completed its 10,000 km testing milestone at the Ring, with the Korean automaker scheduling another additional 10,000 km durability test before production.
“The Nurburgring is where every N model is honed to the Nth degree, so our first high-performance, all-electric N model must also prove itself here,” said Till Wartenberg, Vice President and Head of N Brand & Motorsport at Hyundai Motor Company.
To make the N version of the Ioniq 5 track-ready, N integrated the ‘Drag’ mode and ‘Track’ mode for managing battery temperature. The Drag mode sets the optimum temperature for immediate use of maximum power, while the Track mode uses the lowest possible battery temperature so the EV can clock more laps.

The sporty driving experience is further enhanced with the N Active Sound +, which consists of a 10-speaker system (eight internal and two external) that stimulates the sound of a 2.0-liter turbo engine of ICE (internal combustion engine) N cars. Hyundai said the sounds are customizable, allowing drivers to choose the one that tickles their fancy.
“Ioniq 5 N just completed its 10,000 km durability test on the Nordschleife, which is an important milestone that proves the vehicle’s high endurance and racetrack capability. And yet, we just began our second 10,000 km test to push Ioniq 5’s limits,” added Wartenberg.
Hyundai will debut the Ioniq 5 N at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which will mark the brand’s first participation at the event. The N Vision 74 will also grace the event, showcasing its high-performance hydrogen powertrain to spectators.
Locally, there is a chance we could see the N version of the EV following Hyundai Motor Philippines, Inc. (HMPH) President Dong Wook Lee’s statement shared with us during the brand’s relaunch last year. He said that the brand’s N-badged EVs are more likely to arrive than ICE-powered N models.
