Get to Subic without range anxiety.

The electric vehicle (EV) market in the country is still in its early stages. But that doesn’t stop ACEA Subic Beach Resort from expanding the market with the opening of its fully-equipped EV charging station.

ACEA is the first to open an EV charging station in the SMBA (Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority) area. Present in the opening ceremony were key officials from the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) including its Chairman Ferdinand Raquelsantos. Solarius Energy CEO and President Peter Wilson, and Board of Director of EEMI Manufacturing Inc. Alain Dick also graced the event.

The all-electric Jaguar I-Pace also participated in the ceremony. It was used to demonstrate the charging capabilities of the new EV station.

Welcoming the organization was the ACEA Team consisting of its Operations Manager, Clarenz Dizon; Executive Chef, Merlinda Junio; Events and Banquets Manager, Melissa Corilla; Front Office Manager, Edlyn Puno; and Marketing Communications Manager, Dyan Narisma.

With the new charging station, you can now plan a trip to Subic without range anxiety in your EV, or even in a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV). The latter uses a combination of a combustion engine and an electric motor with a battery. Some PHEV models available locally are the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro and the Mitsubishi Outlander.

The first in the SMBA area

As for EV models, Nissan Philippines, Inc. is the only mainstream car brand to offer an all-electric car with the LEAF so far. This year, Hyundai and Kia are expected to join the fray with the Ioniq 5 and EV6, respectively. Both EVs are underpinned by the Hyundai Group’s Electric Global Modular Platform (e-GMP), coming with zero-emission powertrains.

Exploring the SMBA area in an electrified car will now be more worry-free with ACEA’s EV Charging Station. It is said to be a product of the resort’s vision of more sustainable road usage.
