We’ve reported before that the next-generation Toyota Innova might be getting a hybrid powertrain. Teasers were also released, and reports are stating that it will be debuting this November.

Recently though, spy shots of what could be the 2023 Toyota Innova HyCross have emerged online. These were taken by an Indonesian news outlet by the name of Kompas Otomotif, and it shows the front end of the said vehicle.
Based on what can be seen in the photo, the hybrid Innova retains a hexagonal grille. It is however, a bit more upright, more compact, and it gets a new grille mesh pattern. It is also flanked by a pair of sharp-looking headlamps that appears to be LEDs.
Down below is a totally new design element in the form of a black vent on either side of the MPV. We aren’t sure yet if these are real vents, but these are linked together by a black-colored trim piece stretching over the width of the vehicle.
Not much can be gleaned from the side of the vehicle, but it comes with a set of prominent wheel arches. The roof also looks more seamless compared to the currently available diesel-powered Toyota Innova.

As per our previous reports, it is probable that the upcoming Toyota Innova HyCross is getting a hybrid powertrain. For now, there are no specifics on this, but it is speculated that it might be getting the same hybrid systems that are already present on the Toyota Corolla Altis and the Toyota Corolla Cross hybrids.
Going by what those two already have, it’s possible that this new version of the well-known MPV may come with a 1.8-liter or 2.0-liter mill paired with an electric motor and battery. Take this bit with a grain of salt though.
We are fairly certain that the upcoming Innova is likely to get a bump up in terms of tech. We’re talking about the addition of the Toyota Sensing driver assist safety suite.

It also has a wheelbase length of 2,750mm, and a ground clearance of 178mm.
The Toyota Innova's competitors in the local market include the Mitsubishi Xpander, Suzuki Ertiga, GAC GN6, and the Maxus G50.
