Toyota has launched three new versions of the Hilux including the Toyota Hilux Rugged X 2018, Rogue and the Rugged in Australian market. The new variants are targeted at urban adventurers and serious off-road lovers. They all are designed, engineered and built in Australia with assistance from Toyota Thailand and Toyota Motor Corporation located in Japan.
The trio built based on the double-cab 4x4 Hilux is the culmination of a 3-year program for vehicle development, beginning in early 2015, before the debut of the current-gen pickup.

The three versions get similar mechanical specifications to the SR and the SR5 which are powered by a 2.8L turbodiesel 1GD-FTV engine. The powerplant is capable of doling out 174 hp and 450 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Speaking of the Toyota Hilux Rugged X 2018, it comes with modern functionality and effective protection for off-road capability with a full kit of standard features including a fresh grille design, a heavy-duty winch-compatible steel front bar, LED lightbar and integrated bash plate.
Besides, there are also some features equipped for recovery and protection containing front/rear recovery points, purposeful side rock rails, integrated tow bar, a snorkel and a fresh heavy-duty steel rear bar. Thanks to a new 4-piece steel sports bar mounted on the floor, the Rugged X can load up to 75 kilograms vertically, ensuring to transfer up to 200 kg on its bed.

Stepping inside, the Toyota Hilux Rugged X 2018 features a tacho and 4.2’’ multi-information display, a fresh combi meter instrument cluster, leather-wrapped seats, black headlining and metallic black ornamentation.

The next one is the Rogue which was designed as a stylish lifestyle version with advanced features and a striking aesthetic appearance, suitable for city adventurers. The front fascia has been completely renewed with a honeycomb insert, a more upright profile, new outboard LED fog lights, a big trapezoidal grille and high-gloss metallic bezels. Besides, there are also some other new features added to the pickup. Its interior gets the same package as the Rugged X’s.

Meanwhile, the Rugged is orientated to buyers who want to get more features and functionality of the Toyota Hilux Rugged X 2018. It is armed with center and corner under shields, additional driving lights, LED driving lights, 2 antennas, newly-design black 17’’ wheels, side rock rails, fresh grille, 265/65 tires and so on.
