New top-spec Toyota Hilux Revo Rocco 2018 arrives in Bangkok

Back in November 2017, the Thai Hilux was given a nip and tuck for a Tacoma-styled front fascia. A couple months later, Pinoy car lovers also welcomed a new range-topper named Toyota Hilux Conquest 2018, priced from P1,311,000.

And now, at the Bangkok Auto Show, the Japanese automaker keeps surprising Thai buyers by introducing a new top-spec model for the popular pickup: the Toyota Hilux Revo Rocco 2018.

Toyota brought to this year’s event two examples, a Double Cab and a Smart Cab. As the ‘Rocco’ moniker suggests, the range-topper owns a rugged appearance with plenty of outstanding styling cues such as:

• A massive set of black 18-inch wheels featured all-terrain tyres and white lettering;
• Black wheel arch trims;
• Glossy black and grey grille;
• Grey rear bumper;
• Bed lining;
• A sports bar;
• Unique Rocco graphics on the side profile;
• Black metallic-trimmed interior.

As mentioned earlier, while the rest of the equipment, the cabin and the exterior stay unchanged, the front fascia of the Toyota Hilux Revo Rocco 2018 has gone through significant revisions. Particularly, the pickup features a large hexagonal grille inspired by the US-spec Tacoma with a big nose, a revised bumper, an upturned air intake and new fog lamp surrounds.

Speaking of engine options, the new top-of-the-line model continues to be powered by a 2.4 litre 2GD-FTV turbodiesel and a 2.8 litre 1GD-FTV powertrain. While the former is mated to a 6-speed auto transmission, producing 150 hp at 3,400 rpm and 400 Nm of torque, the latter is connected to a 6-speed manual gearbox, generating 177 hp at 3,400 rpm and 450 Nm of torque.
