With a view to streamlining the Kia Sportage 2018 lineup in Malaysian market, the Korean automaker has recently introduced the Kia Sportage 2.0L EX 2018 variant. This newbie will be available for sale alongside its sibling 2.0L GT CRDi diesel AWD. Meanwhile, two 2WD models launched 2 years ago, namely the 2.0L GT Line and 2.0L KX have already been discontinued.
The Sportage lineup welcomes new 2.0L EX variant in Malaysia
According to latest car news, the Kia Sportage 2.0L EX 2018 model has been added with a number of interesting equipment, including:
- A new set of twin-spoke machine-finished 18-inch alloy wheels;
- An Auto folding side mirrors;
- A rain sensor;
- Front and rear parking sensors;
Speaking of accessories, it is worth mentioning that the new variant also comes equipped with a new 7-inch touchscreen audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support and an electro chromic auto dimming rear view mirror. Other goodies include:
- Fully automatic air-conditioning system;
- Push start ignition;
- Keyless entry;
- 6 airbags (dual front, side and curtain);
- Isofix mount points on the safety kit front;
- Hill-start assist;
- Vehicle stability control;
- ESC;
- ABS.
Underneath the 2.0L EX’s hood is still a 2.0L Nu MPI four-cylinder
While the updates given to its exterior and features are significant, the petrol powertrain stays unchanged. In particular, underneath the 5-seat SUV’s hood is still a 2.0L Nu MPI four-cylinder which is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, delivering the same output figures of 155 PS at 6,200 rpm and 192 Nm at 4,000 rpm.
The Kia Sportage 2.0L EX 2018 is available at 5 colors, namely Mineral Silver, Snow White Pearl, Fiery Red, Mercury Blue and Cherry Black. Priced at RM129,888 (equivalent to roughly P1,731,000), this model will be offered with 5-year and unlimited mileage warranty in Malaysia.
In the Philippines, the Kia Sportage comes in at P1,745,000 for the top-spec variant, which is a slight increase of P20,000 in comparison with the SUV’s 2017 SRP. Please refer to the table below for latest price list for the Kia Sportage in our country:

The Kia Sportage 2023 Philippines is a 5-seater compact crossover that is competing in the local market in its fourth-generation version. It is still unclear as to when will the fifth-gen arrive on our shores. In the local market, its sole available variant is the GT-line, which is priced at Php 1,820,000. Under the hood, the Sportage GT-Line uses a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine good for 182 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. The said engine is then an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
In terms of dimensions, the Sportage is 4,480 mm long, 1,855 mm wide, and 1,655 mm. It also comes with a wheelbase and ground clearance rated at 2,670 mm and 172 mm, respectively. In the local market, the Korean compact crossover goes up against the likes of the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Subaru Forester.
