Toyota to recall over 3.4 million cars worldwide
Japanese carmaker Toyota recently announced a recall advisory for 3.4 million of its cars sold around the globe. The advisory comes on the heels of a persistent issue plaguing many Japanese car manufacturers in the last two years: airbags.
This time around, however, the concern has less to do with the airbags themselves and more with the electronic control unit which is responsible for communicating with the crash sensors in the event of a collision.
Though it's a safety risk, the recall isn't expected to significantly affect Toyota's global sales
Most of the Toyotas included in the recall are U.S. domestic models numbering at 2.4 million units, and Canadian models numbering at around 300,000 units. Last week, Toyota said that ECUs from its models made between 2010 and 2019 are among those affected.
Fortunately, the recall does not include Toyotas running on Philippine roads (unless it's a gray market unit).

Like a wart that refuses to go away, Takata continues to cause problems with a number of car manufacturers, including Honda.
Although Takata filed for bankruptcy back in 2017 to pay for $9 billion worth in damages, the company's inflators still pose risks, from sudden explosions, airbag underinflation, or potential passenger injury on account of flying shrapnel.

To address the issue, Honda is calling on car owners to sign their cars up for inspections. However, it appears that the latest Honda recall only covers older U.S. models; even then, Honda of America says that the likelihood of an improper airbag deployment remains very low at this time.
