Toyota RAV4 Hybrid

Even the Toyota RAV4 gets the hybrid treatment for Filipino customers

This is TMP’s second electrified crossover, and the fifth Toyota model overall in the country following the Prius, Camry, Corolla Altis, and Corolla Cross. But what can customers expect from the rather hefty retail price, a difference of almost Php 400,000 from the standard version’s base variant?

RAV4 Hybrid alloy wheels

Up to 18-inch alloy wheels are available

There’s the 2.5-liter 16-valve gasoline engine paired with a 650-volt permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, resulting in a combined system output of 176 horsepower and 221 Nm of torque. An E-CVT channels the output to the front wheels. This is the same powertrain found on the Camry Hybrid midsize sedan.

The RAV4 Hybrid XLE brings LED exterior lighting with high-beams and leveling functions engaged automatically. These are complemented by auto-folding side mirrors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and roof rails on the higher-spec LTD trim. Both have a tailgate that can be opened remotely. The XLE rides on a set of 17-inch wheels, while the LTD uses 18-inch alloys.

Apart from a range of connectivity options, the cockpit also features wireless charging

Up to five occupants can fit inside the cabin, with the RAV4 Hybrid presenting a choice of fabric and leather upholstery. Eight-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat is available on the LTD. For the instrument panel, the XLE comes with a 4.2-inch multi-information display, while the LTD uses a bigger 7-inch version.

Split-fold rear seats, bottle holders, a multi-function steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic climate control are standard across the range. A 7-inch display audio head unit is also present, offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility patched to six speakers.

Both new RAV4 Hybrid variants come with seven airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, and hill start assist. Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) also makes an appearance with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System, Lane Tracing Assist, and Lane Departure Alert. The top-spec variant adds a Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
