After the facelifted Innova, what car could Toyota PH launch next?

It could be the Vios GR-S.

A month ago, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) introduced the facelifted Innova. So what’s next for the Japanese marque? Well, if we went by previous reports, we could speculate that the Vios GR-S might just be around the corner.

The said speculation traces back to our previous report about the leaked model launches of TMP for this year. If the report is indeed accurate, TMP could launch the Vios GR-S next.

The deliciously rakish-looking Toyota Vios GR-S (Malaysia-spec)

For those unaware, the Vios GR-S, is a Vios that was given a performance-oriented makeover. Sure, the 1.5-liter engine remains unchanged, but Gazoo racing made a number of improvements to it to make it handle better. Its continuously variable transmission now has ten simulated gears, and its suspension was given a sports tune.

In terms of appearance, the Vios GR-S bears a more aggressive look that sets it apart from the other Vios variants. It rides on a set of 17-inch black alloy wheels, and it also gets a honeycomb grille, blacked-out exterior trim pieces, an integrated diffuser, and a black boot spoiler.

The interior was also given the Gazoo Racing treatment with suede leather seats with red stitching, a Gazoo Racing multi-info display, among others. Mind you though, these improvements were given to the Malaysian-spec Vios GR-S, and we still don’t know if the upcoming Philippine-spec version will get the same set of features.

As reported back in January 2021, Toyota will be launching several models in this year’s first quarter. Those two are the facelifted Innova and the Vios GR-S. With the new Innova already out, it might only be a matter of time before we get to see the sporty Gazoo Racing tuned Vios in the metal.

As a reminder though, most of the things mentioned here are speculative, so take these with a healthy grain of salt. But yes, 2021 is indeed shaping up to be a busy year for TMP. For more updates on the local automotive industry, keep it here on Philkotse.com
