Jeep Wrangler 2020 Hybrid will get an in-source production

The Jeep Wrangler 2020 Hybrid’s power electronics module will be built in Toledo Machining plant.

Some details of the forthcoming Jeep Wrangler 2020 plug-in hybrid version have been recently revealed. Accordingly, the carmaker will have an in-source production of its power electronics module.

The manufacturing will be operated in the Toledo Machining plant of the car manufacturer which is located in Perrysburg, Ohio. Then manufactured units will be delivered to the Jeep Wrangler assembly line. Additionally, the PHEV version (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) will jump into the range in 2020.

In detail, the power electronics module is placed in a protected part which is located between the driveshaft and the exhaust of the Jeep Wrangler 2020. It includes the integrated dual charger module (consists of the dc/dc converter and the onboard charger) and the power inverter module.

Besides, the Toledo Machining plant will be in charge of uploading the essential software, doing final testing of the electrical systems and coolant, and assembling the different sub-systems.

According to the latest car news, Jeep hasn’t disclosed any technical information about the plug-in hybrid engine. However, rumors said that it may be the 3.6L V6 engine which is also used in the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid and already equipped in the new Jeep Wrangler 2020.

Also, the carmaker hasn’t confirmed whether the PHEV powerplant would be used for only the Wrangler or it may be armed for the Scrambler which has the same underpinnings.
