Renewing your driver’s license here in the Philippines has become such a chore to a lot of people that a lot of people consider letting it lapse. The Land Transportation Office (LTO) though has some great news for all Filipino drivers as licenses can already be renewed in advance.
As per LTO, driver’s licenses can already be renewed 60 days in advance ahead of its actual date of expiry. Filipino drivers who may not be in the country within the two months before their licenses expire can actually renew it even one year in advance.
Of course, this super early renewal is subject to some proof of documentation to prove that the driver is indeed out of the country and not able to renew as scheduled.

LTO has definitely made it more convenient to ensure that the validity of the licenses won’t lapse. It will also provide zero excuses already for drivers to continue driving with an expired license.
Here is the information needed for those interested and in need to renew their licenses in advance. You initially would need to complete the information of the usual driver’s license application form. With this form is your current and valid driver’s license, either Professional or Non-Professional.
You would also be needing proof of an electronically transmitted medical certificate from any authorized medical testing facilities. With these documentations, you can have that renewed license, and this new one is good for another five years.

Additional requirements might deem needed, especially if the renewal is twelve months ahead of the actual expiry. Aside from the mentioned usual documents, the applicant must also be able to present an original copy and a photocopy of a flight itinerary under the same name indicating that during the actual expiry and two months prior, the driver will be out of the country.
Aside from this, a certified true copy of the employment contract will also be needed, again as proof of absence in the country.
