One can say that Geely Philippines has been performing well in the local market as it is included in the top 10 best-selling car brands so far this year. The Chinese automaker registered a year-to-date (YTD) sales of 3,818 units, translating to a 222.2 percent growth as compared to the same period last year.
Needless to say, the model responsible for Geely Philippines’ impressive YTD sales growth is still the Coolray. For the first nine months of 2021, the subcompact crossover managed to sell 1,960 units, which is enough for it to be hailed as the best-selling model in the brand’s local lineup.
Perhaps the reason why the Geely Coolray continues to sell in the market is its loaded features. The Coolray is equipped with full LED headlamps, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree view camera, and fully automatic parking (for the top-spec variant). It is also designed with a sporty appearance thanks to its sharp character lines, quad exhaust setup, and two-tone finish.
Another strong contributor in terms of sales is the Geely Okavango. The 7-seater vehicle is catching up fast in the sales race with its YTD of 1,633 units sold. Despite being the newest model in the local lineup, the Okavango outsold the Azkarra which had a total sales of 33 units so far this year.
Soon, Geely Philippines is expected to add two new models that will help further expand its business network. In our previous report, the new Geely models could be the Emgrand subcompact sedan and Xingyue L SUV. These vehicles will widen the Chinese automaker’s market reach in the country.
The sales performance of the brand will be interesting to see now that we are in the closing months of this year. Geely Philippines could take MG Philippines in the ninth spot, or maybe fall off the top 10 list of best-selling cars for 2021.
