A fisherfolk from Paombong, Bulacan named Wheng Clemente donated once again to Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP), the official distributor of Geely vehicles in the country, 100 kilos of fish which helped the company set up another round of food distribution in Metro Manila.

The donated fishes from Clemente are distributed to the company’s partner-charity groups including Walang Iwanan Alliance, Kawa Pilipinas, and Heaven’s Touch Cuisine. The donated fishes were turned into meals that fed hundreds of people at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) and victims of the fire in Tondo, Manila.
According to SGAP, hunger hit more families as the economy collapsed due to the drastic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) reported that six out of 10 households experienced moderate to severe food insecurity in the Rapid Nutrition Survey conducted last November 2 to December 3 last year.

Feeding programs similar to what SGAP is conducting aim to reduce hunger in Metro Manila one meal at a time. In consideration of the partnership the car brand has with Wheng Clemente, SGAP is hoping that more Filipino families will be fed especially during these trying times.
“Hunger is one of the serious problems our society is battling against especially during this time of global crisis. We are humbled by the opportunities we get to able to help even in small ways,” said SGAP Marketing Manager Ryan Isana.
From Kawa Pilipinas
As a recap, Wheng Clemente asked SGAP for Geely billboard tarpaulins in exchange for around 120 kilos of fish last month. She said that the community’s fishery business is affected badly especially during the rainy season so the Geely tarpaulins can be used by the fishermen as protection from the land beside the river.
